Last night I was logged on as administrator on a PC with WIN XP prof,
and while connected to the internet via dialup connection something very bizarre happened.

When I went to my web mail page - where it asks you to enter username and password, text from what appeared to be instant messaging appeared in the "user name" field. The field would fill up, and then I could blank it out, and it would fill up again. There would be some text, then some garbage **** that would turn into text. I closed the internet connection, and some of the text continued to fill the field.

I rebooted, re-established dial up and the same thing happened! I rebooted a second time and the text no longer appeared.

I am current on my Norton firewall and internet security. I went to liveupdate just to make sure.

Just before this happened I was on the t-mobile web site, and logged in.

Any ideas what this could be??? THANKS!!!!!

Thanks!!!

Possibly the Autofill option in IE going buggy on you?

It's also possible that the authentication on your web page somehow started intercepting incoming IM text??

Snotrocket, I don't think it is the autofill. It looks like text entered from a telnet session - the text filled slowly, with garbage that turned into text. Does it sound like a trojan horse virus? I'm going to check the firewall trusted zones tonight.

Download AdAware and Spybot. install both proggies and run them.

See if you still have recurring problems
