Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9500 Pro
or
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro

They may even be made by same company.

There is no difference in the hardware. The only difference is the color of the pcb which may be black with sapphire, and the bundled software if you buy the retail. I just bought a 9500pro and I looked into all this stuff last week. Get the cheaper one.

so should i go with the black pcb with sapphire? i heard many complaints about the black pcb because it wasn't compatable with motherboards or the hook-ups to the monitor where messed up.
Cantacuzene which 9500 pro did you get? the black pcb from sapphire or the red pcb from ati?

Ummm....the color of the PCB makes absolutely NO difference in the quality of construction, compadability, etc. It's the companies that make the cards that determine that. The PCB could be neon green and still be a well made card.

Well after reading all the reviews on the 9500 pro. I think I'll just get the 9500 pro now.
Do any of you know when the price will drop? People said it should drop pretty soon.

The 9700 pro retail cards just dropped from $400 to $300 and the 9600s should start shipping later this month. The trickle down effect should start happening real soon.
I just got a 9700tx when a friend of mine decided she wanted a Dell. The upgrade price was +$120 over the default 32MB ATi card. When the system came in I just swapped out the card with a cheap 32MB card and gave her the money for the upgrade.
The 9700tx card is clocked slighlty slower than the 9500pro, but it has a 256bit memory bandwith and overclocks very nicely after flashing the bios. At default speed and an AMD 1600+XP I got 3775 with 3Dmark03
