www.cdrinfo.com has a few reviews of CD-RW

www.hardwarezone.com has some too

I'm pretty sure www.gotapex.com has some CD-RW reviews

A lot of sites have hardware reviews

www.anandtech.com
www.sharkyextreme.com
www.tomshardware.com
www.pcstats.com
www.monkeyreview.com
www.firingsquad.com
www.hothardware.com
www.gamersdepot.com
www.viperlair.com

And the list goes on and on.

Just go to the news page on this site or www.3dnow.net (where I post news), and you'll see lots of sites with hardware reviews.

NewEgg (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=27-106-184&DEPA=1) is one of the best hardware retailers on the internet. They have the LiteOn 52x (retail) for $47 plus $6 shipping...

this might sound like a dumb question, but i really don't know

when they mean retail... what does it actually mean?...
does it mean that manufacturer will automatically give me 1yr warranty because i have it?.... sames question... regarding OEM's.. .
... i'm lost

... i'm lost Retail vs. OEM {aka whitebox}

Almost always, OEM is cheaper. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) are sometimes called whitebox or brownbox. These are products that don't come with fancy packaging and many times have a shorter warranty.

Almost all the hard drives I buy are OEM. That means it will only be the bare hard drive and doesn't come with IDE cables, mounting brackets, and manual.

Buying an OEM product can save you money.

if its retail, the warranty is covered with the vendor/manufacturer?
for example, i am planning on buying that liteon CDRW drive, if it just happens that something happened to it, like for say 3months after purchase, would it be covered by warranty from the manufacturer, (eg, replacement) cause i really dont know how it works, thats why for all these seemingly repetitive questions.

i really don't think i am all that great with computers, thats why i am planning on buying retail rather than oem, but some website i visited don't have anything mentioning warranty. though some does, i don't want to buy the warranty if its already covered through the manufacturer.... (still trying to save some bucks ^^)
