I got a so-called deal at a local Dollar store the other day. It was an 8 pack of Austin Cheese Crackers for a buck.
Well, yesterday morning I opened a pack and they were totally stale. I couldn't find a date anywhere except a copyright date on the package... 2001. I have a feeling this store is selling out-dated food.
Would you make a big deal of this practice to the store or even some other authority?

Just stop going there. It's the easiest solution, and if everyone does it, they go out of business. Case closed.

Nothing worse than a Cracker past it's prime.

I think selling food past its date is common practice at a budget food store. My moms used to go to the Canned Food Store and pick up all sorts of stuff that was past its prime. But most of the time it was still good.

I think that if you complain they might laugh at you

I agree with Paymaster, just stop going there, and don't recommend it to your friends and relatives. :)

No, no. The people who invented "Witeout" are the bad ones.

i'd take it back, tell em they were stale, and get a refund. then never go back.

Call the manufacturer of the crackers and tell em you got stale crackers. They'll most likely ask you where you bought them and if you still have any, to send them back to them.

You'll most likely get coupons or actual product to replace it and the manufacturer will use THEIR legal team, etc... to go after the dollar store.
