Just saw it tonight. Thought it was decent. It was clear that Soderbergh was influenced and inspired by 2001 -- the ambient atmospheres, the static shots, the music, and even much of the sets....
Give this movie a chance if you're interested in a thought-provoking movie that happily lingers among your noodles long after the credits have left orbit(what I personally believe is the very first requirement of a good movie). It doesn't really push the philosophical envelope to the degree that Kubrick did, but it takes a stab at several solid agendas (religion, existence, choices in life) while still leaving just enough ambiguity to induce various personal interpretations. Add Soderbergh's slick commercial sensitivity and you've got one cool flick. Especially in light of recent cinematic revelations in Hollywood cookie-cutting(tears of the sun, etc  ), this one seemed well worth the money and the 100 minutes.
This is a mysterious movie of solemn introspect that tickles deeper than just your peripheral nerves. Give the movie a try. Give yourself some intellectual stimulation. Then give me your interpretation.
