Is there a way to avoid paying the tax on Dell Small Business orders? I ordered the DVD recorder on the deals page and they are charging me tax. I am not a business, but i gave them a fictitious name.

Nope there's no way to advoid tax with DellSB. If you could find the same deal with Dell Home, no tax will be charged.

To avoid sales tax, move to New Hampshire, there is no sales tax there.

While i'm not ready to move to save sales tax, I made out really good anyways. Dell shipped my DVD recorder next afternoon Airborne Express instead of the free ground option that i selected.

Don't use a ficticious name!
Dell Business does require a name... so just REPEAT your individual name. They take it just fine.

The reason why you don't want to use a ficticious name, is that if you ever file for a rebate, and you wait weeks and weeks, and the check arrives, it will likely be in the name of the COMPANY. Your bank will likely NOT cash it for you.

Man, I did not think of that and I ordered 2 systems using my actual works name for the business. I hope they actually come in my name so I do not have to figure out how to get them to cash them for me.

I made this mistake and was freaking out about it too, but the rebate check came in my name. I assume this is because they must go by the name on the Credit Card.

But still it is better just to repeat your name. =)

Yeah, I hope they go with the name on the credit card. I had bought some thing from my work in the past and just continued to use that name. Never crossed my mind that they would send it to the business name although it is reasonable to do so. From now on I will either use my name or my dad's business.
