Ok, if you are interested in doing a white elephant gift exchange, please post in this thread.

If you have an idea of how to do it, let me know. I'm not sure the best way to figure out who sends stuff to who. :)

Anyway, I'll be first. I'm in!

That's what I figured yeah. We'll somehow match everyone with a name of who they are supposed to send something to and they can get in touch with the person to get the name & address. That way, only one person has someone's name & addy. I wouldn't mind, but I know some would. Also, if anyone has a problem with it, I'm sure we could work something about about getting their stuff to them without anyone besides an admin having their info. :)

How I've done exchanges in the past, I've had every one email me their info. Then only I had everyone's addresses. I put all the emails in a separate folder. When it is time to assign buddies, I have the 1st email person send to the 2nd, the 2nd to the 3rd, and so on until the last guy gets the first. This makes it easy to make sure everyone gets someone with no duplicates.

BtW, in the original white elephant swap there were some certain ground rules. I pretty much trust everyone here, but on the same token, I don't want to open my package and have a shiney red penny when I shipped out my favorite clam bikini.....or transversly, I wouldn't want a 18" black dildo when I open mine up infront of my kids too.....

Common sense applies of course, but maybe make some tiny official rules.

We have a White Elephant here at work near christmas. In general it's pretty fun but we have one guy who just gives crap. This past exchange he wrapped up a toilet brush. Grrrr :mad:

Sorry, didn't mean to post 3 times in a row.....

But in response to the above. The idea would be for you not to know from whom or where your package is coming from. Nor should you know who your sending it to. Other then the address pertinent info.

Jenny shouldn't match the names up with 2 people here that she knows are good friends already. So people can't taylor make the packages to their best buddy and such. Defeats the purpose if you ask me.

There's nothing in stone, just my suggestions....

attgig, everyone will send me their address. I will give everyone who sends in their address someone else's address. They will send a "gag" gift (it's called a white elephant gift) to that person (not knowing who they have. They in turn will get a gag gift from someone else that has signed up. It's just a way to have fun and have something new. :)

true White Elephant exchanges allow an item to be stolen from people up to 3 times. Is the intention just to give it to one person and that's it? Otherwise shipping is going to be expensive.

Ok, here are the rules I could think of. If anyone has anything to add or thinks I should change something lemme know:

1) Gift must be something laying around your house. NO going out and buying anything.

2) Gift can not be anything that would a) get you fired or b) have your children taken away due to showing them something they shouldn't have seen. ;)

3) Nothing disgusting (no bodily fluids, etc)

4) Please, nothing illegal. I'm sure everyone is smart enough to figure that out. ;) Abide by the rules of the post office. No one wants Apex charged with mail fraud. :heh:

5) Your gift can be something cute, silly, stupid, etc. Even if someone were to get it and think, "What in the world is this??" That's the fun of it. :D

NO telling who you got, even initials. The whole point of this is to be anonymous. If you figure out who you got, keep it to yourself. After everyone has gotten theirs, if you liked your gift or thought it was a great one, feel free to post. Don't post if you hated it or thought it was stupid. We don't want to make anyone feel bad. :)

When you send yours, use your initials or whatever you gave me to have sent to you, unless you don't care if the person who gets it knows who you are. :)

Just be reasonable with the gifts and the comments and HAVE FUN! :)

Honestly, that makes no sense. Because you aren't sending out to whom you recieved from. Person A is sending to Person B who is sending to Person C who is sending to Person A.

I got mine.... it's actually pretty funny. It's a lighter, and when you open it to give someone a light, it chimes some music from communist china (only guessing) i say this becuase on the side of teh lighter is Mao Ze Dong with his hand up. I'll post pics when i get a chance. I barely had time to post this as is, and i got my gift lest week.

Glad you like it. It's quite a nifty lighter, I have another one that's gold. The flame comes out a nice green. You need to refill it with butane I believe; sorry I had to empty it for the mail. Picked it up in Feb. in China for a steal.

That song is supposed to be Mao's favorite song. Don't want to put down anyone, but those Commies worship him like a god. I was quite amazed by the extent to which they glorify this madman(my opinion).

"Tools for Teams" looks like it teaches the fundamentals of using good teamwork in the workplace. I am super stoked to get this because I want to get some teamwork going at my work, so that people help eachother with computer problems instead of always calling me for the simplest things. I have read the first few pages of this book and it is very interesting!

the funny thing was that i'd forgotten all about this exchange. if yall remember, my grandmother died right when this all got started, and then i moved to carrboro, nc and then i was off getting married and then to jamaica, so i missed a lot of this thread. and then jenny tottally took care of me and sent a gift out for me (a big ole thank ya to you jenny :kiss: )

so i was opening this box and thinking it was a wedding present, because we also had some of those waiting. we were completly dumbfounded as i kept pulling all this random stuff out. we were totally like WTF????? do we have some crazy person in the family that we didn't know about? who would send us a telephone cord for a wedding present? and a swimsuit calandar? took about 5 minutes of looking and thinking before i realized what was going on.

i'll post up some pics of my loot in the next couple of days after we finish unpacking and settle down some.

Corsec was supposed to send to victant but has not. I know Corsec has not sent it.

AWM was supposed to send to faither but faither has not gotten it. I don't know if AWM has sent it or not.

RoniMan was supposed to send to lilbigblue but he has not gotten it. I don't know if RoniMan has sent it or not.
