In this week's ad they have Memorex CDR 50 packs for $14.99 after a $5 rebate. Is this a good deal, or do these CDs suck? I would think it would be good- although it is a spindle w/o cases.

BTW- These are 74Min/650 MB... I still thought it was good. I might go tomorrow and see if they're still in stock out here by chicago (although they're always OOS on sale CDRs)

you can get a better deal on a cdr post i had up a while ago. from oupost.com, free overnight delivery, 14.95 for the same deal, or 19.95 for 80min. cd's.
if you too lazy to search for the topic, here's a link to the two:

BAH, damn outpost has long url's
just go to the page and do a search for 84219 and/or 84220

links weren't doin me any good

The deal at Outpost is great... they advertise as 74 minutes CD-Rs, but you get 80 minutes CD-Rs, so get them while you can.

But are the CDRs at Outpost better than the ones from Best Buy (Memorex)? i bought some in the past that just plain sucked (like half burned good copes), and I don't think it was the burner...

Thanks!

DrSluggo, nobody has yet compiled a comprehensive listing of good/bad success rates with the low-cost CDR deals, so until people post enuf to get a statistical idea, we will be in the dark. It has been my guess that since mainland China has opened up a number of blank CDR factories, that is why we are seeing so many low-cost generics being rebadged and sold. It looks like CDRs have replaced common CDs in some shops too; there are some software stores that have a lot of retail games (nice quality printing) that are on CDR; id est, generic blanks are possibly reliable enuf now to be used for releases without shopkeepers fearing returns due to bad media. So, the low-cost CDR is making inroads everywhere, including lots of software entering our NAFTA distribution chains via China's most-favored nation trading partner status.
