Hotter than Lightning: WD 40gb free after rebate...

CompUSA just sent me a updated rebate form from their last deal(175gb WD HDD for $99.99) because the rebate form said special edition even though the deal was for the normal drive. This "fixed" rebate form now says its for the 175 gb drive on one page, but the second page that you fill out has the 40gb part # wd400bbrtl and doesn't mention the 175gb drive anywhere. It is listed on the site for $99.99 and the rebate is for $100, so free, haha.

The only problem is that the second page of the rebate does not state how much the rebate is for. Maybe they'll just send you a $1 rebate if you just send the second page.

well, if it doesnt work you can't exactly return it once you've cut the UPC out...and 40gb for $100 isn't so as-hot-sounding. Thoughts, people?

Yeh, just purchase the 40 GB hard drive for $99.99 which can be gotten for $50-$60 elsewhere, send in the rebate and hope to God that you'll get your money.

If you click on the rebate tab on the hard drive page..it says "No active Rebates for this drive." I'd be real careful.

honestly, i dont see why this wouldnt go through. it says 40 twice on it, so id think they have to honor it. it may take some calls if you get rejected, but looks good otherwise.
