For those fellow apexers who have gotten married recently I was wondering how much your photographers charged and what they included in the price? Also how much did your ceremony/ reception site run.
The reason why I am asking is we are planning our wedding and I would like to see what others have paid.
So far the photographers have run around $5000+ and the locations (we were looking to have everything at one place) have large ceremony fees and then are expensive as all hell. THe photographers seem a bit pricey as do the locations, but I might just be out of touch with reality here.
Thanks in advance.

We're looking at using someone called djbros (DJ Brothers).
They do Video, Photo and DJ. All under one roof. It made sense to me. If the profits are all going to one owner, rather than three... that cut won't need to be so big. And it wasn't (from their proposal).
I think they even showed us some pictures from a Fallbrook wedding. So maybe they'll do Diego stuff.
They're in Fountain Valley or Huntington Beach, I forget.
My wife-to-be found their info on the web... so I guess I'm not much help right now, maybe tomorrow. What I do know is that for all three... it's about $3,000.
Dave.

I suppose it depends on how crazy you want to be. The photographers took over 1200 pictures at my sister's wedding. It was a team of 3 photographers and 2 videographers. They had their wedding video made on to DVD as well. From my understanding, it cost them about $20-25k for their setup. These guys were freaking pros and knew what the hell they were doing. I'm still not sure if I could justify the price myself.

That's a lot of money.
I'm going to get marry soon and we just book the studio for photos and videos. We are going to paid $3500 for studio pictures, wedding (church, resident, and reception) pictures, and videos (DVD). My package is much smaller though (60 studio pictures with 2 big canvas; 30x40 and 24x30).
weddings are expensive. think $80-100+ per person for the reception at any hotel. it's so sick. my brother is 28 years old and he's been saving for a $50,000 wedding ring! he's insane!!

That's ridiculous, even though it's something that's done only two or three times in a person's life :)

My wife and I:
Were married by a friend under a unique MA law[$40 application fee]
Wrote our own ceremony [$0]
Had gourmet pizza for dinner [$130]
Had Hudson valley sparkling wine provided by a relative [$0]
Held the wedding in our apartment [$0]
Bought a wedding dress and rented a tux [$700]
Designed, printed, and mailed our own wedding invitations [$50]
Had custom designed white gold rings made [$500]
Had a friend is who is professional photographer take pictures [$0]
We kept the whole thing the under $1,500. Our parents decorated and provided hors d'oeuvres and such. My wife also didn't want a diamond engagement ring, so I had it easy there too.
And despite taking the low road, it was still the most wonderful day of my life.

So was that $20 - 25k just for the photographers? If so that is just insane. If that was the price for the entire wedding, then that is what we figure our wedding will end up costing us.
What we have found so far is that most of the supposedly cheaper places would run us $80 per person plus liquor and hordourves. That doesnt include the ceremony fees which have ranged into the $3000 range. Some of the more expensive places have jumped into the $110 per person range and dont include anything, not even linens.

Photographs and digital video taping with editting: $1000
...
Tuxes: $800
...
Reception (kit-and-kabootle): $2000
...
Getting the chance to have someone else spend your money for the rest of your working life: Priceless
:P

Good grief! Will the ring include 24 hour bodyguards? I would be so freaked out having my fiancee wearing something that expensive on her.
Taking this into perspective, she'd be close to wearing a 2003 BMW M3 on her hand.

ours were free... we found a company that was just starting up and needed pics for displays at conventions and such. We gave up our rights to the negatives in return for the photos and album as gifts. Usually the negatives are the property of the photographer anyways so no big loss I'd say.

The total cost of the wedding as approximately $200k. They were married at the Ritz Carlton Huntington. There were 200 attendees and the Ritz charged $250/head. I suppose it didn't help that they had a complete open bar available for 8 hours either.

Real deal American currency. My brother in law was ahmmered when he signed off on the bills. I would be too. He figured they were only doing it once so they would do it w/ a big freaking bang.

My wife and I looked at our priorities and decided we should worry about ourselves and not spend $15K for ONE day of our lives. So here's what we did:
Have 1st wedding in Vegas (my family lives there) and invite all friends. If some don't show up without a good excuse, they ain't your friend. This also keeps you from having to invite the waaaay distant relatives that you never met cuz they ain't gonna fly to go see it. This also cuts down on the cost.
Night before wedding dinner w/friends and family $600 (we picked up)
Wedding in LV at the MGM Grandwas $1200 including service, LIMO, Wedding License, Photographer, Video, bla bla bla. After wedding, dinner at Tremezzo. The deal with guests was, you pay for your own trip and dinner and we don't want gifts!
Leave Vegas:
1) fly to Auckland, New Zealand for 4 days
2) Leave Auckland, fly to Sydney, Australia for 5 days
3) Leave Sydney, fly to Tokyo, Japan for 4 days
4) Leave Tokyo, fly to Beijing, China for 4 days
5) Leave Beijing, fly to Sofia, Bulgaria for 5 days
Get married again in Bulgaria for her family
Fly home.
Total cost for 2 weddings and a trip around the world for 2? $15,000
We had the time of our lives for over a month and spent less than most people for a one day wedding. I highly recommend!

Man, if some people spent as much time and money planning their lives together as they do planning their wedding day, the divorce rate would drop like a rock.

holy shmoley! i just don't think a wedding is worth spending much money on. i designed and printed the invitations myself, my sister took the pictures (she is now officially a professional photographer, tho, and if it wasn't for her i would have gotten us both dressed up and to a nice photo studio for a few hundred dollars worth of photos), we spent $250 at sam's club on food and napkins, etc, my dad grilled the meat in the backyard, i bought a nice dress on ebay for $60, we each got a $250 ring, no diamonds, no party favors, a very expensive cake (my standards of expensive... i'm betting it was about $100-$200, and i'm sure you can spend a lot more than that...) that my MIL paid for, a keg of beer and several cases of homebrew... that was that. it was a great party in the backyard, and everyone had a good, memorable time, just as they would have had we gone to all the hassle and expense of a big "let the professionals handle it" shindig.
and all the cash we saved got spent on a week in europe. :D

I agree with both of you. My wife and I decided that spending the first month of our new lives together roaming around the world with each other doing what we wanted to do rather than thinking about how to pay off an insanely expensive wedding was the best route.
It's funny because we thought most people would give us heat for not having a "traditional" wedding, but everyone we told about it said wow, I wish we would have done that instead of our traditional wedding!
