I've only gone shooting twice and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you do shoot, what guns do you own and what is your preferred gun?

I shoot whenever I can. I own a Taurus PT 145 and a Mossberg 500c Shotgun. My favorite firearm to shoot is a KG-9 because it is fully automatic after like 2 clips when the spring wears out. Nothing feels better than shooting 30 9mm rounds in 3 seconds.

I've got around 25 guns currently--mostly pistols but several rifles and shotguns also. I LOVE to shoot...it's one of my favorite things to do on a Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, I don't get to do it much here in Hawaii, since I am keeping my guns at my parent's house while I'm stationed here. Hawaii's gun laws are pretty strict and I didn't want to have to register all of them as soon as I got here, not to mention the fact that there just aren't a lot of places to shoot here. There are a couple of nice indoor ranges ($$$) and a really nice outdoor range (free!) that, if I'd known about it, I would have brought at least a few of my guns here to shoot.
If I had to pick a few of my favorites, they would be:
1: My Colt Custom Shop Delta Elite AR-15 featuring:
- 1" Diameter button rifled target barrel
- Tasco custom shop 8-40x56mm target scope
- JP custom target trigger (single stage, 4 lbs crisp)
- Choate target buttstock, free-float fore end, and DPMS tactical grip
- Extremely accurate and fun to shoot! Can't find a decent pic of it now but will post one when I find it.
2: Ruger 10/22, heavily modified:
- Shilen .920" stainless steel target barrel, button rifled and air gauged
- Fajen thumbhole sporter stock, free floated and glass-bedded.
- Volquartsen trigger group, approx 2 lbs
- Swift 4-16x44 scope
- More fun than the law allows...shoot all day for $5-$10 and it will keep 10 shots inside a quarter at 50 yards.
- Looks like this, only with a stainless barrel and different scope:
http://www.lemonizer.com/uploads/Ruger1022.JPG
3: Browning Buckmark 5.5 Target
- Heavy barrel .22
- No modifications other than basic trigger job
- Aimpoint red dot scope, 5 M.O.A. dot
- The ultimate plinking pistol, accurate and fun to shoot.
- Looks like this, with a red dot scope on top:

If I had to keep only 3 guns (for target shooting, since none of these are practical hunting guns), these would be the ones. Next on my list will be a high power target-style hunting rifle, something alone the lines of a Remington Sendero or Savage 112BVSS...

Guns are one of my favorite thing but I can't afford lots of them. I always want to get either the new military M4 or the H&K MP-5.

Depends on who I get to shoot at I suppose.:dodgy:
I'll go with a 12 gauge pump any day. Excellent for home defence. Intimidating as hell and the short range protects your neighbors.

I have to agree with the others, shooting a pistol doesnt compare with the fun of shooting a shotgun. Especially with a pistol grip and pistol fore grip ;)

Got to shoot an M1 Garand the other day - 30-6 (sp?) rounds. Damn precise for such an old gun.

I own a 12ga Remington 1100 semi-auto shotgun, there's a skeet/trap range about a mile from my house, so whenever I get a chance I like to go out there. It's too expensive of a habit to do all that often tho, shoot a couple of rounds, and you're out $30, and lord help you if you go to a skeet shoot, if you enter everything you'll end up shooting:
200 12ga
200 20ga
200 28ga
200 410ga
not to mention all the entry fees.

The Garand is definitely one of the greatest guns ever produced. Mine will still shoot MOA, but it does have a match barrel.
I LOVE to shoot and do it as often as possible. I have too many guns to list but some of my favorites:
Ruger Super Blackhawk, 7.5" bbl 44 mag...this is my hunting pistol.
Ruger Single Six old model, 22 mag..my general carry pistol. Used to belong to my dad..the perfect general purpose varmint pistol. I shoot bees with it (yep, bees) to stay in practice.
Ruger Blackhawk old model, 41 mag. was put together by my dad..it's got perfect weight and balance and shoots GREAT. At 25 yds with the right handload I can put 6 in the Xring.
and my Mini 14...dangit it's just fun to shoot! :D

Yeah, I was gone all weekend. I've got:

Sig-Sauer P226
Kimber Gold Match
Browning Buckmark
Springfield M1A
Yugoslavian SKS
Japanese Arisaka
CZ .22 Bolt Action Rifle
Benelli Nova Pump

Leon, how do you like your Benelli? I'm not crazy about the aesthetics, but functionality is the object of the Nova anyhow... Do you have the optional recoil reducer? Pretty sure my next shotgun will be a Benelli Black Eagle, if I can find a decent deal on one.
I've been eyeing the Kimbers also. How does the Kimber compare to any custom .45's you may have shot? I've never been a big fan of the .45 Government design, but the Kimber may change that.
Damn, now I'm ready to go shooting...:D ...might have to go make another "investment".

My next gun will definitly be a Springfield 1903 replica. Bolt action and 30-06 rounds. I'll add a scope and be droppign bombs with it. I saw one at teh range last time I went. Some 12 year old kid shooting with it. It made the AR-15 I was firing feel puny.

The Benelli works. My reason for purchase was for home protection and so I got the 18.5" barrel 12 gauge pump with ghost ring sights. I didn't get the recoil reducer because I wasn't planning on shooting much with it. It just rests close to my bed at night.
Unfortunately, the Kimber is my first and only .45 semi. The only other .45 I've shot was a HK USP. The Kimber is extremely accurate and well made. You can shake the pistol with all your might and not feel anything on the inside jiggle or shake. However, because it has very tight tolerance, it has jammed a few times. This is using Speer Lawman ammo too. It seems to do better with Federal ammo. Basically, it's cool to target shoot with, but if it's a life and death situation, I'm grabbing the Glock.

hmm...no one here shooting an Anschutz or Feinwerkbau precision smallbore rifle. That's what I shoot, Olympic-stype competitions.

I totally agree what a fine gun. My uncle collects them.
I like shooting guns too but I don't own any guns, although I am thinking about getting one in the future. I go with one of my uncles to the range as often as possible. I like to shoot hit 9mm, .40, and .45. They are all glocks. He also has a .38 which isn't bad and a few other pistols. A really fun gun that I shot was a .50 cal, black powder muzzle-loader. It was fun to load it. :D
<in my best beavis voice> "Ughhh, guns are cool!!!Yea, yea!!!"

All I have is a Marlin .22 for shooting rabbits in the garden.
My BIL let me use his 12 gauge to shoot trap once and I loved it. So I'm thinking of picking up a cheap shotgun, a box of shells, a target thrower and a box of clay targets. I can get all that at Wal-Mart for about $150. We live on 10 acres, so I can just do it out in the pasture.
I'd also like to get a handgun of some sort for self-defense (and fun.) One thing about living in the boonies where I am - if you have to call 911, don't count on seeing the police for at least a half-hour, even in the most dire of emergencies. I've been told to go with a .38 revolver, since it would be trouble-free. Was that a good suggestion? How much should I be prepared to pay for one?
BTW, the state legislature here in Minnesota is working on changing the concealed carry laws. If it passes, pretty much anyone without a criminal record will be able to get a permit to carry.

I have a Smith & Wesson .357 magnum. There's an indoor shooting range (http://www.targetmaster.com) across the street from my office where I occasionally go at lunchtime.

I hear ya Leon. My .45 jams when I use cheap ammo. Federal is the only ammo I've used that has never jammed. Problem is Federal isnt cheap so I don;t use it at the range.
Bottom line, federal is the only ammo I'd bet my families life on, and I think thats worth something.
