what was the last thing that really shocked you? you know, something that strikes you out of the blue.

the last thing that shocked me good was being accused of something at work that i was absolutely not a party to. a group of us got called into the boss's office and he accused us all of some wrong doing. i knew who had done it, and it wasn't me. it shocked me so much that i contemplated just quitting and leaving on the spot. i didn't, and we got it all sorted, but man, i was pissed!

While watching the movie "Identity" as it unfolded into a great plot and story line. :P

I know it's nothing major, but other than that, nothing in real life that has really shocked me.

never been to therapy. I have however had to say my name in a gas filled room to a gas-mask wearin' Drill Sergeant, does that count? :D

Well the obvious answer for me is 9.11. But before that, when I was in the ARMY I was trying to fix a power unit in one of the communications shelters at 3 in the morning. Wasn't careful to make sure everything was disconnected and I took over 300 volts to the forehead

It's not the voltage that kills ya, it's the current. :hihi:

Glad you're still alive, bro. :)

I pulled a power cord from a running computer (mem card/cd reader for digital photos) @ Costco and I don't know what happened but, I got quite a tingle.

I used to work at a steak house (I won't say which one) years ago. We had these heat lamps (the red kind) that would keep fries and etc hot while they were waiting to be served. A bulb in one of the lamps was always coming loose from being bumped so much, so we'd have to reach up inside the hood and tighten the bulb. Well, wouldn't you know it, somehow the bulb had broken off at the base before my shift and no one bothered to tell me. The filament was still intact and very much exposed. So, thinking that the bulb was loose, I reached up inside the hood to tighten the bulb and got a mighty shock. I'm not sure what the wattage of that bulb was, but I really felt that one. I had been shocked before, but never that bad. I was still not feeling quite right for about an hour afterward.

I was once hit by 277V AC (Flourescent Lighting Circuit Voltage) because some idiot electrician left the bare leads sticking out of the outlet in a darkened room that I was walking through with a couple of building inspectors. I brushed the leads with my bare arm and got the shock of my life - it knocked me down to the ground and my arm hurt for hours afterward. Nothing worse than burnt sourdough.

Needless to say, they didn't pass inspection.

Psychologically, the last time I had a good shock was seeing Kathy Bates nude  in the movie "About Schmidt". I still have occasional nightmares about that one.

I've been sorta struck by lightning.

My dad and I were riding our horses on the ranch and we were right under the gate when it was struck. Both our horses were knocked down to their knees. It's wierd, but I knew something was going to happen, because the air around us was *off* for a bit before the bolt struck.

Electrical: I was calibrating a Detroit Switch. That's 220v. I was thrown half way across the room when my screwdriver slipped and made a complete circut between me and the deck. It knocked the wind out of me for about an hour and a half. I was dizzy for the rest of the day.

Emotionaly shocked: September 11th of course.

Finding myself suddenly in the arms of someone that I've (secretly) had a crush on for years...was pretty damn shocking to me. Very nice, but shocking.

Otherwise, I don't do electricity. Scares the hell outta me.
