I finally decided that I should get the Direct Connect hub running again for ya'll.
The hub address is coleslaw.dynip.com.
If you had used it before (last year?), your username and password will be the same, so come on in! :P
If you are new to Direct Connect, you can download the Neo-Modus client from www.neo-modus.com or, even better, download the DC++ client from sourceforge (http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=download), which is more robust and feature-laden.
If you want to join the GotApex hub, send me a PM or an email containing your desired username so that I can add you to the registered users list and send you a password.
Some things to keep in mind: if you are behind a router, force Direct Connect to report your WAN IP and have port 412 (or whichever port you want) forwarded from your router to your LAN IP. This should allow you to connect in active mode.
I hope to see you in the hub. :D

How exactly do I force an active connection? Just pop in my public IP on the setup window? I swear when it comes to filesharing I feel like a complete n00b especially on mIRC and what not.

Exactly. It looks like you are using DC++, so you should have your WAN IP (you can find it easily from www.whatismyip.com ) in the IP box and a port that is forwarded to your system from your router in the port box.
Since it appears that you are already transferring stuff, you appear to be working just fine in active mode. :)

he didn't delete them. he copied the ones on your computer and then deleted them to cover up that he stole yours.

hey, if you have physical access to the computer, you can easily get that data.
there are password crackers out there, all you gotta do is get the password hash from the computer and there are programs to do that as well.
if you don't want to get his passwird, pull his harddrive out and stick it in yours. boot up your computer off your harddrive then look at his harddrive.
hope that helps... :shifty:

Why does your father have his computer in a box with a lock? That sounds awful suspicious to me. Now the real question is, why didnt you have a password on your collection? You do realize that you could have had it hidden in an innocent looking folder. And then, depending on how computer savy your father is, you just remove the find feature in Windows Explorer and he might not be able to do a jpg search...so your stash would remain hidden. Either that or you should have burned it all onto disc so you would have had back ups.
