Check your local Wal-Mart before purchasing this one. Wal-Marts almost everywhere have the APC Back-UPS 500's and Back-Office 280's on clearance. The 500's were $123 for weeks and weeks around my area (Inland Empire in So Cal) and I visited many Wal-Marts because I heard they have them as low as $40 dollars. Finally, a couple weeks ago, the Wal-Mart closest to me slashed the price in half to $62 dollars. There were 4 units and I waited a couple days to see if the price would drop further. To my surprise, when I went back in a couple of days, 2 of the 4 units were already gone, so I just picked up one at $62 dollars. They still have one around $123 in another Wal-Mart nearby. I've also seen the APC Back-Office 280 for as low as $50 dollars although they are $85 most everywhere.
