I'm not surprised that they have a $30 coupon for that player, its a Toshiba. Lots of problems have been discovered over the past month with its playback. Besides, thats not such a great deal anyway. Here's one for $191 http://www.buydig.com/cgi-local/shop/web_store.cgi

Wow that is surprising to hear!! I have heard nothing but really great things about the Toshibas. In fact, mine has worked great for several months now.

I just bought this DVD player and I love it. I've experienced no playback problems, and it works flawlessly. The picture and sound are amazing despite the fact that I can only use the RCA jacks with my current set-up. The only complaints I've heard have been of booming sounds when navigating the menu and not playing a movie (something I haven't personally experienced) and the remote being sucky (which I can understand but don't agree with).

It's a great player, and a great price for it. I got it at $159 from Mobshob and the $25 off from VISA's in the mail.

Oh, regarding CD-R's, I haven't tried any of the one's I've burned, but I do believe that I read somewhere that it does *not* play them. Not a big deal for me because I have my CD player right next to it, but something to watch out for if you are thinking of replacing a CD player. Also, someone said that CDs sounded a bit "bright" when played through the DVD player, though again I don't know that for a fact.
