View Full Version : Your finest, cheapest AthlonXP board.

Like Kerney said to Apu, "I'd like 4 of your finest, cheapest cigars".

Well... can someone suggest a fine CHEAP AthlonXP board that takes DDR? And has AGP. Those are the requirements.

A friend of mine apparently has a fired board on his hands.

If not a board recommendation... maybe a brand?

Thanks!

Dave.

What is he looking to spend?

I think he'd spend $60-$80... easy. More $$$ would probably cause a littl trauma (mainly emotional).

EDIT: By the way, it's a 2200+XP chip.

I'g get a cheap nforce2 board, like the Soltek. I hear nothign but good things about the Soltek Golden Flame. Word has it can be gotten for $90. Plus it has head room for upgrades, unlike the A7V8X.

Thanks for the ideas, all.

By the way, no need for overclocking. Does that change your suggestions?

Nope. I'd still recommend an nforce2 board. They are rock hard stable at stock and give you a reasonable upgrade path in a year or two. Plus the ability to use dual channel ddr is a significant advantage in the long term.
