I bought a 40/12/40 Plextor CDRW off of half.com about 2 months ago.
I just installed it this afternoon.
For reading an approximate 600 MB CDG (Karaoke disc) it takes 9-10 minutes. I have enabled DMA and disabled DMA with practically no difference.
I am using CDRWIN. I have disabled jitter correction, put error correction on "ignore" and tried different settings for subcode analysis.
I figured that it should take no longer than 3 minutes to read this disc.
The write speed seems to be OK.
Any thoughts?

EDIT: I tried NERO and it will read the disc in less than three minutes, but after the burn, the words won't show with the audio, which I expected. So there is nothing wrong with the Plextor.

Karoke discs, or CD+G discs, are harder to read, and not all burners can handle them. Also, some Karoke discs now come with copy protection. You might want to check around some karoke forums.
