This one is pretty much the same as the Dell one on the front page:

2.0 Celeron
256MB PC2100 DDR
40 GB Hard Drive
48X CD-Rom
XP Home
Modem and Network Card
$369 - $50 Rebate = $319

Looks like shipping is $14.99 or so, and as far as sales tax:
"sales tax will be collected on deliveries to CA, TN, UT and WI"

- go to http://www.hpshopping.com
- Click on "Desktops"
- "Compaq Desktops"
- Under "S3000V" Click "Customizable PC's"
- under "Featured Configurations" Click Customize
- Free upgrade to 256MB

Why do u :puke: at Compaq home pc's, i have a dell 4550 2.4ghz and I still love my Compaq Presario 7596 (1999). It was on 24-hours a day for over 3 years and still works perfectly. All i've had to do with it was change the mobo once and that too was my fault since i didnt connect it thru a surge protector and it was a stupid thunderstorm that did it thru my modem. I now use it for some secondary stuff like downloading and video encoding and its still a workhorse.

Compaq home pc's have a long reputation for having issues when it comes to upgrading the OS etc... The hardware stops working in new OS's and has very flaky driver support.

Compaq openly tells you that the xxx pc is not supported under any OS other than what it shipped with.

Their business PC's on the other hand, are very nice and very upgradeable.

Compaq wouldn't support it in XP, the video kept hanging and no drivers available for XP, when I backed back into 98, the computer crashed and wiped out the hard-drive. Compaq support was poor. I hated that the hard-drive was built into the motherboard. The computer is difficult to upgrade, just opening up the case was cumbersome. It is now used by my kids and I now have the Dell 600SC.

No Compaq for me since I have a hard time with it at work. I have my Dell 4550 as my home unit and I love it.
