I have the Dell 600sc. I want to get a PCI video card (no AGP slot in the 600sc) I would like one with a DVI input, also a video tuner and video out. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your reply, this is a good suggestion, it is priced at Buy.com for $77.11 after rebate with free shipping, but I don't read where it says it has a DVI input. Can anyone confirm this? Here is the description http://www.pny.com/products/verto/geForceFx/5200pci.cfm It says" Flat Panel display support with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200" but it doesn't say DVI input.

I suspect it does because in the previous link I provided it said,"Flat Panel display support with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200" but that is not clear to me, why wouldn't it just say DVI-I input like it clearly states "Dual VGA + S-video(TV-out) outputs" so I know for sure it has a "S" video output. I called Circuit City, they don't have the PCI version but they said there is no DVI input on the AGP version of the GeForce FX 5200, but I chalk that up to that I don't think they understood my question. Also of interest is this review, it seems decent but not great

What are you referring to when you say "DVI input"? Do you simply mean a DVI (Digital Visual Inferface) port to interface with a monitor that has digital support? Or are you looking for a card that has a digital video input port? Any video input to the PC will be done via a port other than DVI.

I know my monitor would benifit by hooking it up to a digital input. Since I need to purchase a PCI video card, I think it would be smart to buy a card that would enhance my monitor. Sorry if my terms were too general.

The min sys req are at the top of the page in the link it says
"VGA or DVI-I compatible monitor"
And you want DVI output, not input to hook up your monitor.

I emailed the company, here is their response "Here are all the features of this card http://www.pny.com/products/verto/geForceFx/5200pci.cfm - this card should have Dual VGA and no DVI - sorry" Now I am more confused, what does it mean "VGA or DVI-I compatible monitor"?

I emailed the company again to ask why they claim "VGA or DVI-I compatible monitor" and I asked why I see no DVI in their description, here is their response,
"That is a typo that is being addressed - sorry for the confusion - look
down at the bottom of that page you will see what the card has on it
(bottom left corner)" I think that is very sloppy of them that they can't accurately describe their produce. I still could use a suggestion what kind of PCI video card there is with a DVI input.

I was going to mention a few days ago that I thought that they had changed the minimum system requirements (i.e. the DVI-I compatible monitor part) to VGA monitor only. I didn't say anything because I wasn't sure if I was imagining the change.

Yes, they confused me.
The ATI Radeon 9100 PCI has DVI:

Of course you can spend a lot less on something like the Radeon 7000 VE, which costs about $45-50.

In this post at Dell on the 600SC http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=pes_upgrade&message.id=3199&view=by_date_ascending&page=8 It is reported that the Radeon 9100 won't work, the poster FitzersFrost states "Just to let everyone know, the VisionTek 9100 WILL NOT WORK IN A DELL 600SC!
The machine wouldn't even post. I tried the card in multiple slots and it still didn't work. Put the card in another machine and it worked fine. I had to return the card to CompUSA." Why wouldn't it work in the 600SC, do you suppose it was just that one person having the compatibly problem?
That could be. It also could be the power supply. I'm not positive. Normally the issue is with more powerhungry cards, like the 9700 or 9800. Pretty strange.
Someone did report having a 9700 card that didn't work in a Precision 650 (wouldn't even post), until his faulty power supply was replaced.
