ok so I was just wondering if anybody else uses the term shottie. Basically me and my friends use it all the time to "call dibs" on something.
It came from calling shotgun to get the front seat, then we just sorta modified it to shottie. So you can be like "shottie the last slice of pizza.." etc
we also use it to shottie people, like women at bars, but that is not too strictly enforced :P
and no double shotties.

Where I come from the term shotty means something is of much lesser quality.

well I have heard that. Shotty workmanship or what not,
but this is different, an evolution of the english language :P

never ever heard the term used in that context (of calling dibs).
sounds a little weird to me, but if it works for you and your friends....hey
:)
the only time people call for dibs is for the front seat on a long car ride. If you want the last piece of pizza, you better be done with the other peieces first, and the other mofo's, hopefully didn't finish before you...

I and my friends say it (sorta) when we want the front seat of the car. We actually say shotgun.
We also say it when we are shortening the word shotgun like in Counterstrike or something like that.
