with the advent of all these new arby's commercials that i'm seeing, my girlfriend and i got into a discussion of what arby's icon is supposed to be. I think that that arby's icon is an old hat, like the western/cowboy type hat. but with all these new commercials there's that talking mitt and it does a lil spin at the end and turns into the arby's icon...so my girl says that the icon was really the mitt.
soo...umm, what do you guys think?

That "oven mitt" is just the "flavor of the month" gimmick that Arby's is using...
I guess their "marketing ploy" has been successful on your GF...

It's a hat. If you can remember the old signs they used to have 10-15 years ago, it looked much more like a hat back then.

Back in the day, Arby's had more of a western theme. Anyone who remembers that has absolutely no doubt that it is a hat.

"America's Roast Beef, Yes Sir!"
BTW, is Tom Arnold the voice of the mitt, or just someone who sounds like him?

MMMM~~ Arby's roast beef sandwiches are the bomb!!! A prefect balance of carbs and low-fat (compared to burgers) protein. Great food for weight lifters!!! Add tons of horsey sauce and you're all good with your daily amount of recommended fat.

oven mitt
if you look at the commercials, it's an oven mit that they talk with or what not...
and then....at the end.
on the bottom left.
they have the oven mitt guy spin around.... into the logo.

From what I've been able to gather, Arby's uses the lowest grade beef sold and many times the meat even comes from culled cows. Basically, the hunks of roast beef that you see in the slicer in the back is really formed from reconstructed beef parts that are pre-marinated and then formed into the roast shape. Pretty much similar to the bologna and chopped ham you see in the grocery store - only with beef.

I actually don't like Arbys roast beef. I like Roy Rogers' roast beef sandwiches. Those were definitely much better.

When my wife and I drove to Miami, we must've stopped at EVERY Arby's along the way!

As you can see... the HAT doesn't have a thumb finger on the right side... therefore, how can it be an "oven mitt".
Case closed... please pay the balif on your way out. :wavey:
that is the logo. not a hat.
the object in question is the logo...
is the logo a hat? or a oven mitt?
your picture.... is a picture of a logo...not a hat.
you can talk all you want about not sticking out on the right side or whatnot...but the fact remains...there is only pictures of the logo and oven mitt on their site. no hat.
I'll stay right here thank you very much :thumb:

i'm with df man :P
i guess i don't really understand your argument though.....maybe if i did, i'd agree with you.
i mean, obviously, what you see in the commercial is an oven mitt. but i think, like DF says, this is a current thing they'er doing....and i don't think it will last more than a few months. i'll put it this way: i don't think that arby's is going to discard years of brand/logo awareness in favor of an oven mitt :hihi:

Oven Mitt™ explain the benefits of oven roasting. (dude, the oven mitt is even tm'ed)...
at the end of the commercial...tell me that the the oven mitt doesn't spin around and turn into the logo....

i've seen the commercial on tv......which i take to me that the traditional hat is still the logo.
so perhaps we can agree that the OvenMitt(tm) is a logo, but i just don't think it's the logo :P

Dude, it's a friggin' hat. The oven mit just somewhat resembles the cowboy hat on purpose so that they could exploit it in the current ad campaign. Since when does an oven mit have an indentation at the top and a brim at the bottom? :hmm:

Dear Arby's® Customer;
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Guest Feedback website to submit your comment.
The Arby's logo is a hat and not an oven mitt. The oven mitt is being used in our current ad campaigns.
Hope this answers your question.
