This is a two question thread...
I went to target to see if I can find some of their famous clearance deals and I found a 64 MB compact flash card for $22. Not too bad, but I don't own anything that uses it. However, I thought it'd be good to have in case I buy a new camera. So here are my questions and answer either of them.
1) Is there something cool I can do with a Compact Flash card? Like an Mp3 player or something? I know Nintendo is coming out with a compact flash memory card.
2) If I were to get the new camera now, which is good? I'm looking for a SMALL digital camera with great picture quality (2MP+) under $400. I need an optical zoom and a quick recharge time between shots. I currently have a Sony DSC-P50.

cannon and nikon uses compact flash.
i'm looking to upgrade my nikon coolpix2500 to a canon b/c i have a 128 compact flash.
as for mp3 players, couldn't help you there.
My olympus e-10 uses CF cards, but that camera doesn't meet any of your requirements, so don't take it as a recommendation.
You can get a CF/IDE adapter and use it as a hard drive. :) That's what I did with a 4mb jobbie when I built my Linux firewall way back when.

What do you camera gurus think about the Nikon 3500 deal on the deals page? Is it a good camera, better than my P50?

You should get the Canon digital Elph.
Now for the CF card, you could take nekkid pics of your girl and all the females in your family under the age of 50 and email them to me.
If they're good, I'll send you a 128mg cf card to refill. :D

Hmm...ok back on topic...I think I might not buy a new camera. This P50 works well and I don't take too many pictures anyway, although having a smaller one and with more megapixels might be cool.
Plus the Nintendo flash memory card will be using SD cards, not compact flash...so...what to do now?

I have an HP digital camera that uses Compact Flash. 2mp. Costs about $150. Not too bad. Also, I have an mp3 player (from a comapny called Frontier Labs, it is the NexII) that uses CF. I made sure that the mp3 player used the same memory form factor. Lastly, I got a USB card reader (from SanDisk)which lets me use the cards as a drive. Makes it easier to move stuff on and off the cards.
