Just got an email - said my ViewSonic Pocket PC is scheduled to be shipped TODAY!

My status on the web site says "Submission Review Completed". Still waiting for the tracking number...

I tried to go to the website and check my order and it redirects you to the visual studio website now. Anyone received an email (or device) lately?

So has anyone actually recevied anything except e-mail on this? I also got an e-mail saying that mine was expected to ship on June 20th, but so far still no tracking number.

Anyone else?

I heard a lot of emails were sent with the wrong ship date (June 20th). I've also heard they are shipping, and are being sent out in the order the requests were received. There are a few posts on Usenet in which people have received their pockt pc.

Thanks for the update - what group did you see the posting in?

I found it in microsoft.public.msdn.general. Go to groups.google.com and search for "received viewsonic v37" and you'll see a couple threads. It looks like it's taking 8-10 weeks to receive them, which means mine should show up around mid-September.

Thanks - I'll keep an eye on that group.

I got an update in my e-mail yesterday - estimating a ship date of 8-22. Hopefully that means they'll have an opportunity to get PocketPC 2003 on some of them before they ship. Apparently, the ones that people have already reveived have the older version, which seems pretty stupid since I think the whole reason for this promotion was to get developers working on apps for PPC2003.

Oh, well - guess it's not the first time that MS did something that doesn't makes a lot of sense!

Woo hoo! Got mine in the mail today!

Apparently they still have some bugs to work out in the system since they were kind of off the mark on that 8/22 ship date.

Unfortunately, they're still shipping with PPC2002 (not 2003), but not a big deal. I hear that Dell temporarily stopped shipping 2003 anyway, due to some problems they were having.

This thing is tiny for a PPC... not much bigger than a Palm. It's also bundled with some free .NET training CDs & a link to a bunch of resources for PPC developers - http://www.viewsonic.com/vsolutions/index.htm

Unfortunately, still looks like no one has a SDIO Wi-fi card shipping yet, so no browsing for me today.

I'm off to play with my new toy! Thanks again for posting this, Topane!

Do you remember the approximate date you sent in your paperwork? I think I sent mine on June 10th.

BTW, I hear ViewSonic will offer a FREE upgrade to PPC2003 when it's available for those who received the V37 through Microsoft.

I called them today and they are not giving away much information. They are still saying that it is 8-12 weeks from when they "finalized your order." I sent mine in mid may but they sent it back to me in June saying they needed some more information (nothing that I didn't send them the first time, so that sucked). I know I got my last email on June 21st.

Congrats on the new toy! I have been playing with PPC 2003 here at work and it is pretty nice. I can't wait to get mine and upgrade!

I submitted all of my paperwork on 5/14, so you may still have a few weeks if they're going in order of submission date.

That's good news about PPC2003... I hope it'll be a free upgrade!

FYI to anyone who got in on this deal -

Viewsonic has the 'free' upgrade to PPC2003 posted at https://www.ppcupgrade.com

The software is free, but it's $15.99 shipping and it doesn't look like a download is available. I placed my order today.

So then you can just place that CD out on an FTP site, right.....
