As many of you know I teach physics. As a reward on some days, my students bring in consoles and we play video games, FPS (see title) and Super Smash Brothers.
In two weeks, I will be going to a lan party (of sorts) where the ppl there play Xboxes. And they are looking forward to playing networked FPS.
I was wondering...
Am I the only one that finds console multiplayer FPS (like Halo) slow to the point of frustration? If so, what can I do (short of buying an Xbox) to get used to the game and controls so I would enjoy the game?

Uh...you mean TimeSplitters 2??
Time Crisis 2 is a guncon game. One of my favorites actually, but not a FPS...
You confused me for a bit there...
As for console FPS, I find them frustrating. It's really hard to move with console FPS. You need precision aiming and moving while shooting, both of which are hard to do with a freaking joystick.
You know, you might just want to find a keyboard and mouse that's compatible with an Xbox...let me go look.

Question
Hank i was wondering if you heard anything about xbox getting a mouse and keyboard.I would really appretiate any information. With all the shooters going online i think youd be hard pressed to find someone wanting to use a controller over a mouse and keyboard combo.I do like the conroller for lots of other games, and its the best controller i used for shooters but its still not as good as a mouse and keyboard. Thanks for letting me ask this question.
Answer
I have not heard anything about a keyboard and mouse coming to Xbox. My guess would be that Microsoft will not release a keyboard and mouse for Xbox, and Microsoft may also not allow any 3rd party company to release a keyboard and mouse for Xbox. Microsoft wants the Xbox to be viewed as a video game console. In general, a keyboard and mouse is not really suited for the living room couch.
There is one benefit for Xbox gamers by not having a keyboard and mouse. If all Xbox online gamers have gamepads (or other console controllers) and broadband, it'll make a fair playing field.
There are keyboards and mice for PS2 since it has a USB port, but I guess Microsoft is preventing 3rd parties from making Keyboard and Mice for the Xbox...sorry dude...

I think it's a matter of player skill. You have to get use to playing an FPS with a controler. Though I rather use the keyboard/mouse combo I don't find it that hard to use a control.
