Good luck at any of the major retailers, EB, Babbages, etc. You might try Toys R Us, they usually dont get too swamped for pre orders. Otherwise, try any local Ma and Pa game shops in your area. If you still have no luck, you'll have to shell out 400-500 for one on ebay...

Go to a local Target or Walmart store. They will carry the Playstation 2 and they do not accept pre-orders. That is your best chance to get one, now all u gotta do is beat everyone else that will do the same thing.

ToysRUs is still accepting pre-orders. I called them and asked them if it was guaranteed to ship on Oct 26 and they said yeah so I dunno. I then talked to Software Etc people and they said if I pre-ordered from them now I wouldnt get one until February.

www.outpost.com (http://www.outpost.com) has the PS2 for preorder, and last I checked they were still accepting them. And free overnight shipping... can't beat that.
