I personally will never buy a dvd without chedking dvdpricesearch.com (http://www.dvdpricesearch.com)

I won't buy a book without checking addall.com (http://www.addall.com)

I was wondering if anyone else had some favorite price-comparision searches. I've had a lot better luck with more specific ones, rather than the generic ones, cnet, etc.

I use Copernic as a search engine. It is a compilation of many search engines. They have a category called "Buy Software" and "Buy Hardware".
Generally, if you type in an item under a general web search, they will also direct you to links for prices for that item.

This site rocks: http://www.consumerworld.org/pages/shopping.htm Compilation of many different price orientated search engines. I especially love the books search engines that search numerous stores, with your shipped to price.

I have been happy with http://www.dvdpricecompare.com/ for finding cheap DVD prices. It seems http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com is almost always the cheapest with their lowest total price guarantee.

One of my favorites for books is Bibliofind:

Nah, forget searching. Just go to Half.com I usually find pretty good deals for dvd's and books. And if you use thier pre-order option, you get it at the price you want. You jsut put the price you're willing to pay and if seller wants to seel it to you at that price, it becomes an instant purchase. The draw back is, you never know when it'll happen. But so far, i've been very satisfied....

I like MySimon.com (http://www.mysimon.com/) for general stuff, Campusi.com (http://www.campusi.com/) for books, CNet's Shopper.com (http://www.shopper.com/) for electronics.

BTW, I seriously saved $200 on CS textbooks by buying from Amazon used books and Half.com. I really hate how the bookstore on campus here jacks up all their prices cause we're a captive audience.

Sheesh, you'd think that with the stores you mentioned available to every student, that campus bookstores would get a clue and drop their prices :(
