Never use a relative unless you worked for him/her. I would try to contact a teacher that you get along with and knows that you're a dedicated student blah blah blah.

My first few jobs I had NO references, so I wouldn't worry too much :)

About 4 years ago I got my job with BMG Entertainment in NYC with no finance background and no references :)

I can be a reference. I'm in Northridge too. I would think that makes it more feasible.

I would have figured a professor would have liked Shogun the book better than a movie....I guess reading is out even in the academic circle.

Heya I'm back. I'd say it went pretty well... as for the references I managed to get 2 people on my sheet but she never asked for 'em. She's supposed to let me know how things turn out next week.

btw, I'm applying for an interactive course designer, they design online courses using flash or powerpoint. Anywho, thanks to those who volunteered to be my reference, I'll keep you guys in mind in case I need some.
