ok, i know this is supposed to be a "joke", but i can't resist responding. (after all, i have no doubt that whoever put up that bumper sticker thought it was "really" a joke).

very few people are opposed to all logging (and those people are basically nuts who want us to go back to living like rousseau's "noble savages"). the majority of those who fight timber companies are opposed to irresponsible logging and logging in environmentally sensitive areas.

unfortunately, many timber companies are more concerned about clearcutting old-growth timber that will bring them some short-term profits rather than long-term forest sustainability. there are smart ways to cut trees and not-so-smart ways. environmentalists and the forestry industry disagree on where the dividing line is, but that doesn't mean that those who want more restrictions on cutting desire to see logging cease all together.

Good thing neither gets to decide where it should be.

Keep in mind that the government has already decided where the line is, and since both sides think it's in the wrong spot, it would seem (to me) to be exactly where it should be.

Since I live in So. Oregon, I'm right in the middle of the earth muffins vs. rednecks arguement.

that is not too good of an idea, hemp would take too long to decompose and cause septic tank problems
