Compaq 2.0GHz Celeron system for $319 - free memory upgrade ends today.

With all the deals for Dell systems that show up here, I thought I'd repost this HP deal. There is a free upgrade to 256 MB ram that ends today (June 3), but the $50 rebate to get the price to $319 goes through July 5. There is no AGP slot, and the HD is only 5400 rpm, but I think there is room for a second hard drive. I haven't seen anything else out there near this price for a while.

Where'd it go? I called HP/Compaq and the reps know nothing about it. I added it to my shopping cart at work today, and now that I'm home (ready to pull the trigger) it's not online! @!#!@#

Whoa, that's wierd.

I've been trying to talk the wife into that system for a few weeks now, so it's been around a while. It looks like they yanked the 2.0GHz Celeron and dropped the price on the Athlon XP 2000+ system to $349. I think that's like a $100 drop (anyone remember the old price?). The Athlon has AGP, so I personally like the new deal a little better, but if I couldn't swing $319, I'm never gonna get the $349 system :)

I think it's pretty crummy that they won't still let you order the Celeron deal, since it was just taken down today... :(
