Nintendo emulation on Palm OS 5
By: Jørgen Sundgot, Thursday 5th June 2003, 11:30 GMT

Owners of the latest Palm OS 5 devices from Palm and Sony can now fire up a blast from the past with Kalem Soft's new Nintendo emulator.

While a Nintendo emulator has long been available for users of devices running previous versions of the Palm OS, owners of the most recent - and also most capable - devices running OS 5 have been out of luck. That is, until now, as Kalem Soft's recently introduced NesEm emulator lets owners of recent Tungsten, Zire and CLIE handhelds fire up original Nintendo games from the past.

According to Kalem Soft, the company has verified that the emulator runs several hundreds of games on Palm OS 5.0 compatible devices. The emulator supports Virtual File System (VFS) to store games on Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard or Memory Stick media, and also offers sound capabilities with the option to adjust volume or turn on and off specific sound channels. Also, users can configure their preferred configuration of game keys, and the emulator is even compatible with Sony's own PEG-GC10 CLIE Game Controller add-on.
