Got this from anandtech:
The AST 100 is being cleared out for 299. It comes complete with win 98se, PIII 500, 64 megs ram, 13 Gig hard disk, speakers, 24x cdrom but no floppy. It is a very small case that has a figure 8 when looking down from the top. It is not upgradeable as far as I can tell, execpt to add another dimm. The cdrom is propietary, the hard disk is standard, but there are no slots. Intel I810 video chipset. Not many stores will have it. I was told it has problems with locking up occasionally, probably because the power supply is on the bottom of this small unit. I would like to know if anyone else has one of these.

Here is a review of this machine. I got the demo unit for $219+tax. There is 2 more brand new units in Ventura, CA for you SoCal-ers to pick up

Well, I gotta tell you, The cpu is faster than what I have right now(P2-448) video sucks, but its a good machine to give to your girlfriend or run alladvantage stuff on.
The cpu alone is worth it

Good point vladgur, that system would probably be more worth it just to salvage the parts.

SpeedFreak: Pricewatch has the P3-500 for $98+10.95 s/h and 13 gb hd for $70+14.95 s/h plus 64 mb ram for $ 51.00 + 11 s/h for total of $256. Then there is the motherboard, nice blue/white case, 4 usb ports, usb mouse and keyboard. That all adds up. I got it for $219+tax. But its more than components. The system is really tiny, it like 1/3 or regular atx tower. I find it pretty cool and so does my girlfriend http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif And you know what that means http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyhow, its probably too late b/c most of CC are cleared out

I found myself at CC yesterday looking at this AST 100 Century City which was a closeout/return for $219. I asked the sales person to see if there was a box or any other components on the shelf besides the CPU and keyboard. Nope, so I declined, but another interested buyer scooped it up - good for him.
He did mention that these are reported to run very hot due to inadequate cooling. New owners may want to pull the cover off when using it.
