On the front page, gotapex already posted a 15% off coupon for 8500s. Also dell sent out an email about 2 days ago for a 15% coupon good on anything (final order % deduction). For those of you who were luckily enough to get them, the two are stackable. When i entered them in today at dell business:

Discounts and Coupons Total
You saved 15% on an Inspiron priced at $1,499 or more in the Small Business division. -$239.85

You saved 15% off your online purchase as a new Dell Small Business e-mail customer. -$203.87

Sub-total $1,599.00
Discounts -$443.72

Which basically comes out to 1155.28 before tax (depending on applicable state?) and no shipping because its free (no coupon needed). Also there is a $200 mail in rebate included for this model. Total 955.28 not including tax; shipping is free via ground upon checkout.

Or you could configure a top of the line 5100

netlan

Oh crap Whattup static456!!! of all the places to see you!!! heh. Hey let me know if you want the 15% code. I just post these every once in a while cuz i buy laptops and desktops in volume for the companies so they usually give me codes 5-10% higher than those of normal email subscribers. I really have no use for the code at the moment cuz i already have an 8500 and a notebook tablet.

theprod: You can use these codes to configure the 5100. But i never even consider the 5100 because it only supports a radeon 7500 16mb or 32mb version =P Its a no no for heavy gamers. I used both 8500 and 5100 at work, the screen for 8500 really is better in terms of size and different angular views than that of the 5100.

I am in need of a code too so if anybody has an extra one, please PM me with it. Apparently the $50 off $400 purchase won't work with the 15% off software and peripherals promotion. :(

Thanks!

PS: How can I sign up to receive these codes myself? I submitted my email to Dell several months ago when someone posted a link to it but nothing has ever come... :(

You're right, after looking again that's what it says, but before it let you only select one or the other, this time it let me select both.

If they email me, or call me I'll just opt for the $200 as I already bought 2 1 gig sticks from work (I work for Micron). If not, it's still a great deal and I'll be happy.

Thanks for noticing that for me, They are pretty weird about options... they still let you pay for the 512m 2 DIMM option (ADD $150) right above the Free 512m 2 DIMM option..

Static456, you shoulda called me up. I just gave it away earlier. The deal is dead by the time anyone reads this. Iono why there is a shipping charge on your laptop, half moon. The 15% off is 15% off total order + free shipping. I ordered 3 for friends, and basically its double 15% and free shipping. Though it says double memory or 200 rebate i was still able to checkout just fine with both checked. The fine print said the restriction is on selected models only. So all i know is i checkedout okay with the double memory and the rebate. They are already in production. I doubt they will halt the rebate after the purchase process. In the past when I checked two offers where I was only allowed to check one, the next page of the configuration would not load stating that "I can either choose this or that and not both"

Yeah, same here.

My shipping charges are because I upgraded to 2 day shipping. My unit is in production too.

Take it easy.

Pokerplayer:

My notebook shipped and will be here tomorrow. I talked to 3 different dell reps (to verify) and they all said that since it printed with the rebate on the invoice and shipped out that they would give me the rebate.

This was a sweet deal.... now I wait for the Airborne Express guy...

Now I'm kicking myself for taking just the rebate. The rebate hassle was worth a little over a hundred bucks, but it looks like your going to make it worth about $350.

Nice, I hope it works out. I wonder if There is any way I can now get both?

Gosh your shipped already? What specs did you get? Mine has an estimated shiping date of July 1

I know what u mean about rebate being worth it. Im still arguing with the dell rebate ppl over two 250$ rebates from 2 months ago. Somehow they managed to process one, but not the other when BOTH rebates are listed on the SAME sheet of the packing slip.. gotta love rebates.
thankfully I have copies and am only in the 2nd round of faxing them over.. who knows at this point, oh yeah did I mention they mailed out the 1st $250 on june 1 and I still havent recieved it ??? hmmmmmmmmm..

Rebates make me so mad.

The reason rebates exhist is to give the company an idea of which products sell better at cheaper prices.

Some ideas on rebates:

They should just put it on sale at one particular store for that particular week. This would still give them the information desired.

But then they wouldnt be able to take advantage of people by processing errors, and other human error, etc.

Rebates wouldnt be that bad if they were all instant. It would even cut the paper trail down you would think.

Maybe there should be an account similar to a debit card where thay can deposit your refund - Why does it take 12 weeks or longer?

Over all I've only lost 45 dollars on rebates (And I didnt really lose them the Rebate Center did) and have probably have had 300 bucks worth or rebates in recent years.

Some guys out here have several thousands in unrecieved rebates. Thats a lot of capital and a lot of trust.

I just received my 2 rebates from my purchases at Dell the end of April. Not too shaby, a little less than 2 months.

Look up a few posts, I put the whole config up there. Basically loaded, 2.6ghz, DVD+RW, WUXGA, 60 gig and a port replicator.

Oh, My estimated ship date was originally June 30, it was way ahead of schedule, so check your order status.

Cheers.

Actually... I've worked for more that a couple computer component companies, or add-on card manufacturers. The #1 reason they offer the rebates on most products is that they know that a majority of people will never follow through and mail them in.

Alot of America's public has a hard time getting a photo copy made, or they don't want to make the trip to the copy center...

When I worked at an unnamed large multimedia company the official-unofficial in house policy to move product that was questionable was to slap rebate stickers on them. We only received about 6% of the rebate requests, so it's a good situation for the company.

I always try to maximize my rebates and other discounts now after having been on the other side.

I expect that the rebate return ratio has increased in the last 3 years though, seems everyone I talk to knows about G|A and the other sites.

Cheers.

Usually $50.

Yeah, this was a few years back, when everyone was rolling in cash from the stock market though, but I know alot of them came in w/o copies of the receipts too, so they re refused. Seems alot of people threw away receipts before getting the rebate sent in.

Yeah i got all 3 laptops on wednesday. The mail in rebate is posted on the sheet so ill be mailing those asap. I like how they dont need the upc kinda crap because it makes it tacky to give someone a gift with a little rectangular cut out in the bottom of the box. (not a run on sentence, heh). Bought 1 for a co worker, and two as gifts for close friends. Hopefully the rebate will come after I mail it in. In my experience it has with these kind of situations, lets hope it continues to be the same.
