Just tried once again to connect to echo...after about 50 clicks, i gave up. Funny...never had that problem until about 2 hours after the referral for it showed up on the deals page. thanks.

I never have to try more than 10 or 15 times to get on. And that's only been in the last few days. Echo is definately worth hanging on to. Don't give up yet.. this is a high traffic time of the day.

akolang2

by the way...has anyone received a GC from echo in the last week or so?

I've made it really easy to get connected. I just made a bookmark for the echo player to be my startup page and click on the 'home' button 'til it let's me in http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I haven't got a GC in over a week, even though I redeem every day. I hope they get it straightened out. The last time they got delayed and I started to worry, I got 3 the next day. Don't panic just yet.

I think it's been about 2 weeks since they sent any gc's out. I think they owe me like 10 now.

jclark

I just hit F5 on the player window until it loads - rarely takes more than 10 tries.

Instead of cashing mine in I am holding out. I wonder how they are going to be able to pay all these gift certificates out? They must owe Thousands of dollars in Amazon GC's and other gifts.

I'm holding onto my points until I hear of someone getting another GC. I did claim 2 already and they came through but some of my friends have been waiting over 3 weeks.

I last got a GC from Echo (Amazon.com $18 dollar one) on 8-10-2000 at 3:18AM EST.

Since then I've redeemed quite a few, don't everyone panic just yet. They'll come.

The service is a bit slow but the song are not that bad. Pretty good for a service that pays!

Music is getting much better. I actually listen to it while I'm at work.

I've gotten 1 GC from them.. they still owe me like 4 but are within their 7-14 days. I won't freak til day 15.

joe_mamma

dude, one a day? that's why echo is stalling on handing out these gc's. i'm still waiting on my first one.

ledbetter
08-15-2000, 06:20 PM
I dunno how anyone could claim one GC a day... unless you're masquerading an ip or doin' the double browser thing... but echo's gonna catch on sooner or later and your down lines will be done as well.

i just cashed in for my first GC and it's been over a week, how long does it usually take?

don't sign in during peak times, i can always get in just before midnight, and just leave it on all night.

resin

It's not too tough to claim one gc a day. Just get some referrals that are as nutty about listening for gc's as you are. I think I have an 18hr cycle for gc's now.

MaggieOK
08-15-2000, 07:11 PM
I get 4-5 GC's a day. No cheating. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Anyone else have the Echo player stall? It won't stay on for more than a few hours before it stalls at the "connecting" step. Disappointing to see it only earn about 200 points before the thing craps out.

vietgrrl
08-17-2000, 12:19 AM
The player used to stall for me, but it's been working well for me for the last couple days. I even got on on the first try today!

You know if they were really cool, they'd stop taking sign ups until they got their act together. At least then, their current users could enjoy the service.

Of course they have to control the number of gift certificates they're giving out...it's pretty insane.

I read at DVD talk about a month ago that $18GC will cost 10000 points once beta is over.

ledbetter
08-18-2000, 04:57 AM
WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ECHO?

I cashed out over a week ago and still haven't received my first GC... this is startin' to get to me.

blxmjx
08-18-2000, 08:39 AM
I think that they specify that it will take 7-14 days to receive the gc's. I'm waiting for a couple my self. A couple of days more, hopefully. Initially they were sending them out after a couple of days, but now since they've gotten a lot more traffic they are definitely slower in coming.

jry1209
08-18-2000, 09:00 AM
Hopefully they'll honor all these things cause there is no way that they will be able to keep this up. They must be giving away thousands of these things and the only advertising they have is that little space at the bottom.

My guess is once the beta is up, they are going to jack up the point values for the prizes way up, so earn 'em while you can...

jclark

My guess is that once they leave beta, you'll be hearing commercials.

It's been impossible to get on lately, and I cashed out a gc from just about two weeks ago, and still haven't received it. I think it has been like 13-15 days. I can't recommend them very strongly anymore.

08-18-2000, 01:19 PM
heh even for 10000 points GC's still won't be that hard to get. i mean 4000 is almost half of that anyway. so that will take, what, another extra day? or a lot less for some people. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

100+ clicks and I still couldn't get in at 3AM CST! Just like the first post in the thread said, getting the refferal link posted here makes it a lot worse.

Which redemption is better: amazon gc or internet cash?

------------------
What signature?

blxmjx

I personally prefer the amazon gc. If you look at the list of stores that take internet cash you'll see what I mean. The majority of them are obscure and kinda low budget. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif.

I have a couple times where I've gotten "Our servers are down for maintenance", but for the most part it's been working for me. I really hope this lasts. I'll probably go for the Amazom GCs. I need a bunch of Java, Perl, and XML books. Free would be better than not.

grappa
08-21-2000, 07:20 AM
This place simply CANNOT handle the traffic it's getting. For 4 days I have only gotten "We have reached the limit of our network capacity and are unable to allow additional listeners to use the player at this time. We are doing everything we can to increase our capacity. Please try again later..."

Yeah right. I've wasted too much time on this as it is.

Well, I use echo everyday you just got to reload for some time to get in. So far I have redeemed 18 Amazon GC's and only 2 came in. No answer from anyone at echo.
Oh well. I'll just keep waiting and redeeming.

this works sometimes, use one account in ie and another in netscape. If you run it simaltaenously, you will 74pts per hour in one, and 53 pts/hour in another.

I have the same problem as playdoh.
Worked fine the first coupla days. Now it trashes my comp after 20-30 mins.
Wont even open on netscape. Anybody know a fix for this.

G_Sup
08-21-2000, 02:33 PM
O.K. I had the same problem with the crashing and here's the fix....at least it worked for me. Check your version of RealPlayer, if it's pre-version 8.0 then uninstall it, and reboot. Now go and download the 8.0 version of Realplayer and install. This worked for me....give it a try. There's some kind of incompatability with any version of RealPlayer prior to 8.0.

asian_panda

it would be great if the version8 solve this problem. i will give a shot when i get home http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Echo Echo Echo..

I have Gotten 10 Amz GC from them so far, waiting for 10 more, 1 set of speakers, and I also have over 60k in points built up. I do not know if we will see anything else from Echo, but all i got to say is Thanks Echo, its been a swell ride | http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

I do not see how Echo would not fess up on the at least say 50% of what they claimed. Here is my reasoning... Echo is a start up company that is more then likely backed by Amazon ( or at least to some extent, sence they have direct links to buy from them with in the player ) So if they go under, Amazon takes a small hit also.. does that make any sence or am I out in Left field?

Darn

hey darn-it... wanna sell those speakers?

COM
08-21-2000, 08:28 PM
Well, looks like echo added some hardware or did something because I've been able to get in 5 times today without a single overloaded server error.

playdoh
08-22-2000, 01:11 AM
It can't be Realplayer since it originally worked before. The problem started a few days ago. Anyway, I did try uninstalling and downloading the newest version. Same thing happens. Just as it finishes buffering, it freezes as it starts to play.

IrishSS
08-22-2000, 01:16 AM
Although I do have to commend Echo for upgrading its servers, or at least so I think, I can't stay connected for more than 1 or 2 hrs at a time now. The window(s) just end up "connecting" and I don't get paid for connecting. Kind of frustrating. Although, I havent had to refresh once to log on. I just click listen, and the first time it pops right up. I really like that, but not at the cost of being able to listen overnight or while I'm at work...

asian_panda
08-22-2000, 06:06 AM

08-22-2000, 08:29 AM
Sorry guys, I misunderstood you. I thought you were actually crashing...in otherword's, Explorer or Netscape was crashing, not having difficulty with actual connection. For me, I was having probs with Explorer errors, which the Real Player version 8 fixed.

playdoh
08-22-2000, 01:33 PM
No, we DO mean that the browser/player is freezing on us.... Anyway, I isolated it to IE 5.01 I installed Netscape and the echo player was fine. Anyone with IE 5.5 suffering from these problems? I don't want to install IE 5.5 because Vividence isn't compatible with it...

G_Sup
08-22-2000, 02:36 PM
So you had an Explorer error window pop up? If this is the case, Echo told me that it was an incompatability issue with prior Real Player versions to 8. Please note: I was getting an Explorer error screen which totally froze the puter and my only option was to reboot from the reset button on the computer. In otherword's, I could not reboot/shutdown from Windows.

I'm running IE 5.5, and I have the same problems. Stuck at "connecting", browser and player "frozen", and the occasional complete system lock-up. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif

This is what happens to me(when using IE 5.01) I get to echo's page. Click on Listen. When it finally loads, it starts buffering. As soon as it finishes buffering and starts playing, the player and browser with echo's page freezes. Then I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del it to close the player and regain use of IE. I tried uninstalling Real Player and installing the latest version. Still the same problem....

I've hit the 300 hour limit and once you get there you'll notice your points dont go up anymore http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif hehe thats how you'll know...

As for the player crashing, I havent had any problems with it crashing on my computer, however, i have had problems with it on my other computer, i think it has something to do with win2k and the resources, those echo players take 20 to 30 megs of resources (mem usage) according to the windows task manager, so in most cases the player will crash if you dont have a lot of ram, mine has 128 megs and it never crashes, but i have a system with 32 megs of ram and it crashes every couple of hours or so... also my friend had win98 and it would crash for him and since moving over to win2k he hasnt had as many problems...

I just received a response from Echo customer service. I sent them an email regarding an overdue gc order. I had redeemed my points on 8/6 for an amazon gc. They sent me the standard confirmation for 7-14 days. It has now been about 18 days so I sent them a letter inquiring about the status of this redemption order. They replied fairly quickly and told me that it would take up to 2 MONTHS before I would receive my gc. This is major suckage.

any other suggestions (aside from winme, which got my other computer so confused that it didn't recognize the 2nd hdd)?
