Wasn't sure where to complain about this. I did the I/O Magic 52x24x52x External USB 2.0 CD-RW Drive for 34bucks after rebate deal from the got|apex deal page about 4 days ago. I received the confirmed email for the external drive soon afterwards. All good... then...

4days later I received the INTERNAL drive. I was like, what the heck?? So I checked the sku # from my order. Officedepot had changed it to an internal drive. I checked my order number and it had changed to internal drive as well. I still have my email confirmation that says EXTERNAL USB 2.0 burner. Now, what can I do? Is email confirmation good enough for me to try to have them send me the external drive? Or am I just screwed and best I can do is return the internal drive and get my money back? I just want to get some "expert" opinion before I call them or anything. Did anybody else get this deal and receive the external drive?? Help!

Call them and inform them of their mistake. You do have a print out of the "external" drive, right? I'm sure they'll make it good, and I would insist on exchanging it at a local store to avoid return mail fees.

print out of the "external" drive? I have the order and shipping confirmation email I got from officedepot that says "external usb2.0 cd-rw drive". Is that what you are talking about?

oh, and the deal was for 36bucks after 20dollar rebate, not 34...

Hehe,,yep, that's what I meant, printout of the order. I'd go straight to the local OfficeDepot store and show it to management. Try to exchange it right there at the store, and don't forget to have the rebate amount refunded to you because the mail-in rebate, undoubtedly, will not work.

Hello all-
Same deal, got the external drive. All CSR could offer was the external for $99 (10% discount) apologized and said it was a web page error. So I sent the internal back...likely the rebates would not have worked either...sigh!
