Ripped from www.techbargains.com ...check out the link to see...won't last. I ordered a 400MHz Axim and 256 CF card for $250, after a $20 rebate.
They have Raptors for only $113!

Got the email from Techbargains... bought the wife a 17" planar LCD for her system for $340 shipped with tax.. then went back and got a 1 gig CF card for the D100 for $135 after $20 rebate. Now thinking about the Axim.
With these and the i8500 I bought on Thursday I feel bad, I may personally account for a good portion of Dell's upcoming quarterly earnings loss. Saved like $1300 in a couple days. ;)

I'm going to get the 19" Planar LCD since it's $200 less than the 20" version. I also get the Axim X5 (400Mhz) and the compact flash card. The total is $797 including tax before the $20 MIR from Kingston.

I decided against the 19" LCD and just get the Axim X5 and the 256MB compact flash card for $280 shipped after tax and before $20 MIR.

You guys suck!!!
Making me spend money i DONT have!! :P:P
I got a s400 and a 256meg CF. I wanted the S50 but it wouldn't take the initial 15% off.
BTW don't forget to use a 5% off coupon on top of it to make the deal better.

I was gonna go for that Kingston CF too.. ah well.. At least I saved myself some moola then! :)

In case anyone was thinking of that Raptor drive. It is so tempting having a SATA motherboard, but I have bought so many hard drives and other crap.

I was gonna go for that Kingston CF too.. ah well.. At least I saved myself some moola then! :) That's what's supposed to happen, at least until where you login. Keep an eye on the original price listed in your shopping cart, say $150. Under the discounts section you'll see the discount listed as about $24. After logging in though, the price in the shopping cart will be reduced to $125 or so (with no other indications) and there will be another $20 or so listed in the discounts section. That $20 will be off the already discounted price listed up above. Sometimes after logging in, there was a Price Change statement listed next to the item description but sometimes it wasn't, but the price always changed!
I got myself a 5.1 megapixel camera last night for about $250 off so I'm happy :)

S400 + 256 CF for $407 After Tax W/ a $20 rebate
I'm considering taking it to staples and doing a little switch/upgrade to the S50 for 100 bucks. Think its worth it?
The S50 is bigger but it has a higher resolution plus more manual controls.

Did anyone receive a confirmation on their order yet? This extra 15% deal appears to be a mistake by Dell and I am wondering if they will end up cancelling a bunch of orders.

I'd say worth it, more manual controls = better future use (not to mention its just plain funner with them ;))

So did you feel satisfied at the end that it was worth the extra money? Will I really see any benefit compared to using my regular ide drives? The $250 dollars I would spend on these two drives could by a lot of ide space especially if they are not much faster than wd se drives.

drive per drive, the raptor isn't that much cheaper :P and scsi is seriously not that hard to configure ;) but I will concede that for most people the raptor is a easier choice.

I can't seem to get more than the first 15% discount :bawl:

reliability has yet to be proven (not that i'm doubting that the raptor is reliable) but the raptor is a first gen drive, a drive with proven reliability (cheetah?) may be worth a price premium.
the newest cheetahs are pretty stinking quiet and cool (as compared to the first gen cheetah that i have....full height sucker that pumps out heat as good as a heater!)
again, configuration is really a moot point nowadays; when I put my scsi setup, I plugged in my raid card, plugged my two drives in, and i was running 2k3 in just half an hour. SCSI has gone a long way since the old days.
but enough sata vs scsi debate...pretty sure there won't be an end to this :heh: so lets just say both sides have their merits :D
and i agree, deal is dead....thank goodness it did; almost got myself a pair of raptors

I got my email ... just the acknowledgement, is that what you got? at the end of the email (or the end of the order), it says
Please note that Dell cannot be responsible for typographical or other errors, and reserves the right to cancel any orders resulting from such errors.
i really hope it goes through. i ordered something yesterday, and i decided to order it again and cancel the first order ... so i can save a little more $$ :) this better work!

Well my order was cancelled today "Your item(s) has been cancelled upon your request." although I never requested that. I ordered a Nikon 5400 digital camera on 6/14/03 which hasn't been released yet. It was shown to be available on 6/23/03. I called the phone number listed on the dellSB page and finally talked to someone. All he could tell me was that I had to contact my salesperson? I remember seeing the name of the salesperson on some page or email but I can't find that anymore. He did give me the email address for my salesperson and I emailed but no response yet...
The following day I made a second order for a 512mb compactflash card and I received that the next day. It must be because my order was delayed or something. I hope I still get the camera or I'll be quite displeased...

If you do a return to sender on the package they should refund you. I would call to make sure of course though.

I'm still waiting for confirmation email... I got my Maxtor 160GB (8MB) from Staples though. I still don't know if I should keep it or not.
