Print out the rebate from WHAT site?
blueribb
08-20-2000, 12:40 AM
Go to Staples.com and on the top/left side there is a link that says "Rebate Center". Click that then on the next page click "Get Your Rebate". Then on the next page choose "Search By Manufacturer", find Peachtree and click on SEARCH. Then scroll down the last page and click on "Print Mail-in Form"

In todays paper Staples has Peachtree Accounting 8.0 (SKU 438617) for $150 with a $150 rebate (FREE). But their website has the same product and sku# for $119 (possible error ????). But anyway, use a $25 off 75 code and pay $95. Then print out the $150 rebate form located on this site. Make yourself $55.
I did this last night. Hope the deal goes through for you guyz
I LOVE STAPLES

Does "Rebate applies Peachtree Software purchased at Staples stores only" mean B/M stores only?
blueribb

NO - It means Staples not OfficeMax or another store.

"Rebate applies Peachtree Software purchased at Staples stores only mean B/M stores only?" If this is true, then why is there a rebate center? I think this statement is in every rebate through Staples. My Vtech phone rebate had this statement, I sent in the rebate anyway and got the rebate last week.

Wow! I just found this site and I reaping in the benefits $$! I think after I send in my rebate, I'll put this Peachtree up at Ebay and see what I can get. Thanks Guys!

Now.....what to do with the accounting software?

The terms say that this rebate is not valid with any other offer. Is the $25 off $75 coupon an offer? If not, what would be an offer?

if your main business is retail stores then they charge sales tax. sucks but oh well.

I think if the online merchant has a store in your state, the state forces them to charge sales tax.

Whee, free money from Staples. What a deal.
Thanks!!
The rebate form says the required product is "PEACHTREE SOFTWARE" without any specific mention of which PeachTree software. When I searched for all PeachTree software, there were a whole bunch listed and some were over $200.
I am just afraid that Staples might say it's not the right product for the rebate.

Like I said in the original post Staples had this item in todays paper with the exact same SKU# and mentioned the rebate. Yes their rebate form is kinda vague but believe me it's the same one that the newspaper showed.

Yeah, whether or not a business has to charge sales tax has nothing to w/it's being an Internet store. If the business has a presence in a state, then it has to charge sales tax to anyone buying from that state. Staples told me that they have a presence in all the 48 lower states (not sure about Hawaii and Alaska), so they have to charge sales tax to everyone (basically).

i don't think this will last long. once when they receive the first rebate form, they will realize that mistake. then they will most like change it at that point, which is probably in another 3-4 days.

I don't know whether our concern should be to worry about getting back what we paid for ($95 in OK) or whether we'd get $150. Anyhow, I jumped in on this deal, since the software might come in handy for doing sumthin' useful. :-)
Through rebate center, the qualifying ("required") products that came up for rebate from Peachtree, I found that there was only one. And that was "Model # PAW8RT".
And if one were to search for PAW8RT, one would find none other than Accounting 8. That's good enuff proof for me, as of this writing.
Who knows whether Staples would cancel order(claiming misprint? as opposed to B&M stores price of $150?) or disallow $150 rebate(pay back purchase amount only) or void this rebate thing altogether as we all might have used $25 off thingie.
Scary............ but tempting.

The model PAW8RT is Peachtree Accounting version 8.0 RETAIL. Don't know what the W is for. This seems to be either the sellers stock number or the manufacturers model number. But it is the correct product you guyz got believe me.

Whoa guys! I noticed the following line in the rebate details: "Rebate applies Peachtree Software purchased at Staples stores only."
I called Staples CS and talked to Brenda. She said this rebate applies to purchases made in the B&M stores only.
Although I didn't ask Brenda about this, the rebate details also says "Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions." I wonder if Staples considers using a dollars-off coupon another "offer or promotion"?

If my luck holds then the rebate will go thru since they are out of stock in Greenbelt and did not process my order. I am kinda glad though, since I was getting a bit antsy. I suppose mom was right and there aren't any free lunches, at least for me. I hope everybody else gets their software and rebates.
blueribb
08-21-2000, 09:22 AM
All their rebates say this ! It just means the rebate is for STAPLES not another store. It DOES NOT mean Staples B&M stores only.
Why do people keep asking this ?
Update: Staples got hit hard by this deal and is now telling people it is out of stock when I'm sure they are sitting on plenty.
Your mileage may vary

Staples is telling me that it MUST be in stock in your areas local warehouse before they will process the order. That means some people will NOT get this item.
They also said their on-line inventory control software makes mistakes - yea, sure.
The generic number for this is 380981

I got the same reply, Asian_Panda. What bothers me however, is that they said it will be delivered by the 25th which is Friday, while during pricematching they always look if the competitor has next day shipping????They dont have it themselves, why check if the competitor has it?

This is total BS. Like they are going to run out of Peachtree Software? Give me a break. There is not that much demand for it across the country. Even if their warehouse ran out they should be able to easily get more. Instead of cancelling the orders they should have filled the orders when more software came in. Chances are they never ran out of the software and just don't want to take the hit on the rebate. What are the chances that you will be able to successfully place an order before the rebate deadline if you got an "out of stock" e-mail. Probably slim and none. STAPLES proves again that they REALLY SUCK.

vladgur: i got the same thing. but when i login to the site, and check the order history, it's there though. i guess i will wait a couple days and see.
i do agree that it's total BS that they actually cancel the order or something, because they can always said that they are out of stock while there are alot in the warehouse http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif since this is shipped from the local store, so they can still take your order online, but they can always come back and said that they are out of stock locally.

OK guyz and galz,
Here's the final UPDATE on this deal I originally posted yesterday. It seems Staples online found out about their boo-boo and decided to tell most people it was out of stock or some other lame story.
Now listen carefully - call all your local Staples B&M stores and you might be surprised that they have some in stock. Print out 2 Staples on-line pages - one showing the order along with your coupon code. The other of the product page showing the price of $119 plus the SKU#.
Call the store before going and ask for the mgr. Tell them you ordered it on-line and they ran out (truth?). Say that Staples recommended you call you local B&M store to see if they have any and ask that they accept the dollars off code. MOST (not all) B&M stores will do this deal.
Now here's another problem. You may get a rebate slip from the store (blue & white) that gives you only the "full purchase price" back with rebate.
Instead try mailing in the on-line rebate that you'll print-out. They should rebate $150 as stated on it (not just the full purchase price). Now you can see where Staples goofed
I hope some of you are successful.
Good Luck Everyone,
Glenn (TV Doc)

I also ordered the other day and received the dreaded, "We are all out" email from them. I see today that Staples has changed to on-line price to $149.95. I'll bet that if you order now, they will "all of a sudden" have the software back in stock.

All you guys forget that the rebate is not the only way to make money here. If you don't need the software, you can eBay it for $35-40. And besides, Eddie, it's more like $50 w/the rebate, not $40. So you can make $80-90 w/this.

NiceGuyEddie: i have to disagree with you on that. you are just looking at the surface. here is the good deal i got due to the post by blueribb:
i bought the S/W for $105, so that will be $45 profit after i get the rebate. i put the box(no UPC) on ebay and got $56. that's $100 already, and i will not be able to use the $30 rebate since i don't own any of those software http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/frown.gif and didn't want to open the box and break the seal.
so that's a total of $130 possible profit.
don't think there anything to complain on that http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
thanks again blueribb
paradigm
08-28-2000, 10:03 AM
the rebate form asks for both the SERIAL NUMBER and the UPC Code. how is everyone submitting this without opening the box? the serial number is not on the outside...
