One very, very good thing about this deal:

The Sam's Club rebate DOES NOT require a UPC code. I just sent both rebates off, and the in-store and online Sam's Club forms clearly do not require the UPC code. Only the Canon rebate requires it. Sam's Club rebates also come fairly fast (within 4-5 weeks have been the norm for me). You should be able to get both rebates, because they are handled by different companies and the only piece of "similar" information to send in is a copy of the receipt.

Not a bad little printer . . . for $100 and all (plus, it uses the same ink cartridge as my Canon BJC-5100, so now I can load two at once). I can also hook it up USB and use it at the same time as my BJC-5100.

SPECIAL COMMENT:

Sam's Club rebates are valid on a month by month basis. You can redeem one Sam's Club Rebate per monthly period and any other Sam's Club Rebates turned in are not valid for refund. This is indicated in fine print on their rebate circular. If you turned a rebate for the August time period, then you are supposed to wait until the next rebate time period in Sept before buying the product(s) and sending in another rebate to Sam's Club.

If my memory is wrong, toss a little egg on my face. But I didn't want anyone to buy the item and not possibly get all the $50 rebates they could get. Although the rebate from Canon is valid for units purchased up to Sept 30, 2000, Sam's Club usually doesn't repeat the rebate for the same item in their next month's rebate flyer.<small>

Hi guys...I saw a rebate at Sam's Club for the Canon 2100 Inkjet Printer, it's advertised for $99.99 and comes with Sam's Club own rebate program ($50) and at the same time, Canon offers the rebate for $50 also, net cost $0...I was wondering if Canon accepts photocopy of UPC symbol...I heard that they do, just wondering if anyone knows about this.

Thanks.

rebate form for Canon is at: http://www.ccsi.canon.com/specials/bjc2100/rules.html

for the Sam's Club rebate...pick up info at the stores...and when you purchase, they will issue a rebate receipt after your sales receipt.

My dad used to be a member of sams club, but now he's a member of BJ's Wholesale Club...if memory serves me correct though, you can always just get a one day pass or something to their club but you'd have to pay tax...right? I know someone who's a member, but i'm not sure how their rebate works, I wouldn't want my $50 going to somebody else, so I think i'll just go tomorrow and in the end just end up paying tax, my printer is dead..

I am not a Sam's Club member, but I have a friend who is. Am curious, if I ask my friend to buy for me, do I have to send the rebate to the CARD holder's address or I can't send to myself?

I don't want to end up not getting my rebate...

There's a work of pure genius, considering I asked the same exact thing exactly one post above.

I believe you can only send it to the member's address...because on the rebate form it asks for the member number..and many items are one rebate per membership...(I think)...I haven't gotten the printer yet..I asked a lady working at Sam's Club and she said...that you could only use one rebate...I'm not hearing consistent answers...so I'm still unsure whether it's really $100 -$50 -$50 = $0

The problem with postings in the various webforums is that the details are lost or changed in the translation. Or not enuf details are given because many rebate programs, unlike coupons, have all these fine print terms.

Originally, the spirit of the Sam's Club rebates was to simplify for the membership the process of sending in rebate forms as well as provide unique services that archrival Costco doesn't. Sam's Club reasoned why should the members have to send the rebates in to each rebate fulfillment centre in a separate envelope with separate copies of register receipts? Sam's Club would send in the rebate for you since they already had proof of your purchase in the computer and your unique identity via your membership card verified by a person. In return, Sam's was able to get more rebates than what would otherwise be offered by the manufacturers (particularly for food item promotions).

As one supervisor explained to me, Sam's is basically sending in the manufacturer's rebate for you so that you don't have to waste multiple envelopes and multiple stamps or to keep track of all the rebates. Sam's will total up all the rebates and when validated, send to you one convenient single cheque for all the rebated items.

I just don't buy the idea that Sam's Club is sending these to the manufacturer for verification and approval. It's just not happening. I got my last Sam's Club rebate within 5 weeks. All Canon rebates go to the rebate fulfillment center in Phoenix (or Scottsdale). These guys take minimum 8 weeks, sometimes 10, to get the rebates out. Sam's has too many rebates to contend with, and these all go through their claims center in Iowa. Additionally, as I mentioned before, the only common item sent in is a copy of the receipt, which from a business standpoint, they are not going to be able to compare to one sent to a separate fulfillment center. It just does not happen that way.

I think this is what another poster (on FatWallets, I think) said . . . a case of bad timing on Sam's part. I fully expect to get both of my rebates, and I see no reason why everyone else won't either. Good luck http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif
