Houston Rockets New Logo?

The Houston Rockets will have a new logo when they open in their new stadium this year, and according to the VP of Marketing they're out!

All Rocket fans need to calm down. The team took the new uniform suggestions page off because the Uni's will be unveiled soon. On clutchcity.net, an impressive Rockets fan board. the VP of marketing Tim McDougal said that the logo and uni's will be unveiled very soon and that actually the new logo has been released into the mainstream public already to create a "buzz." The Mavs did this same thing in 2001.

This has whipped up a stir surronding the Rockets draft cap that Malick Badine sported on draft night. ESPN barely showed the Rockets draft pick BUT he did sport a DARK RED Draft Hat. NBA.com has the Rockets Draft hat in NAVY BLUE though. Many believe this hat Malick Badine sported on draft night HAD THE NEW LOGO ON IT. If anyone can find a pic of Badine on draft night waering the hat, please post it. It might clear up this mystery.

Look to spot the new logo in and around Houston pretty soon and the best place is more than likely the new arena where they will be makng finishing touches to the place. The colors WILL be Dark Red and Silver. Keep your eyes pealed. You never know when you might spot it.

Yup...it's the secondary logo...hopefully, they won't just say it's our new primary logo...

After lots of digging, I haven't been able to uncover anything yet. I'll keep looking though and hopefully it will pop up some day! :)

Thanks dude. Btw I've been reading on clutchcity.net, a rockets fan board (thanks GraingerGuy!) about this. Apparently, the logo is supposed to come out mid to late July...but from my previous post, it seemed that it's out now.

Supposedly people have seen it somewhere in town. They're just not saying where. And apparently some of the staff at the arena have been wearing the hat, too... :hmm:

It's not it...I've been reading clutchcity.net and they've posted that there and no one has said it was it.

However, I kinda like it. The logo needs to be more refined, but I like the lettering and the number font.

EDIT: nope...I changed my mind. It's neat, but if a person wears it it looks bad. I keep thinking the old Atlanta Hawks unis...

Overall, I think it looks pretty nice. Definitely better than the busy "bowtie" logo they have now.

I can't wait to see the new jerseys! Blood red and platinum! Say farewell to the old PJs! :P

The Rockets are mailing about 800 caps with the team's new logo to business executives and potential suite buyers over the next week in boxes marked "Top Secret," the team said Tuesday.

I think I like it. I have to see the new unis before I make a full judgement.

My cousin brought this up and I thought it was interesting. The logo has a little asian flair to it, which makes sense since the designer is japanese. But maybe they had the Chinese market in mind as well when they picked this one.

I'm really liking the logo now. I think it's very flexible since you could put different shading or colors to the logo. We couldn't do that with the old logos. Heck, you can't do that with any logo in sports.
