ok, this may not work for everyone- or even anyone- but i just pulled it off so cross your fingers. i just picked up the sony v17w- 17" widescreen lcd with 500:1 contrast ratio, 450 nits of brightness and a whole slew of inputs and other goodies for ~$400 after rebate at cc b&m. here are the specs. (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=DdgIElenWJYIGGikansCGRiowq2MVz3jLJw=?CatalogCategoryID=ofgKC0%2eNlXYAAAD2Zs4_WB01&ProductID=KY4KC0%2eNAKcAAAD2K9U_WB05&Dept=cpu) now heres how i did it:
1- i purchased the item online here (http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&qp=0&bookmark=bookmark_0&oid=61143&catoid=-8027) and chose instore pickup. it is important that you do this b/c there is no mention of a rebate on the website and a form does not print out when you pick it up.
2- when i picked it up i mentioned that bb has the monitor for $599. heres where it gets tricky. they do have it for $599, but its after a $200 rebate (which cc also has.) they are still $200 cheaper than cc, but if youve ever tried you know that matching a rebate price is hit and miss. if you get the right person to answer the phone when they call and just say its $599 you should be golden. i did them one up, whoever she talked to at bb told her $549, so i got mine for $340 (after tax) in the end. if you get it to work you will end up getting $440 back (110% price match plus!,) plus whatever applicable taxes back.
3- go to sonystyle and print out this rebate, (http://www.sonystyle.com/intershoproot/eCS/Store/en/documents/rebates/v72wrebate_v2.pdf) send it in, and you have a nice new monitor for a price that wont kill your budget.
recap:
$999 (plus tax): purchase at cc online for instore pickup
- $440 (plus tax back): pm at bb
- $200: sony rebate
= $359 (plus tax)
good luck!
