View Full Version : Gangs Of New York DVD
So, I went out and bought the DVD at BB for $14.99 on Friday. Well I get it home, and don't have time to watch it until today. So after dinner, my g/f and I sit down to watch the movie. I open it up and see two discs. Cool, one should be the movie, one should be the extras. How mistaken am I. Right in the middle of the movie (where Cameron Diaz and Leonardo do the whole biting kiss thing {ya know form the trailer) right after that the movie goes black, and then a static image comes up telling me to put in Disc 2. Great, Thanks for ruining the movie experience. There is absolutely NO reason to portion off the disc onto two Disc's when it could be held on one. They could have taken all that Special Features crap and put it all on the second disc, and left the 3 audio tracks and the movie on the first disc. it just pissed me off and I thought ya'll should be warned if you purchase this disc.

Ya, that sucks. It's not like they are the dvds that you and I can record at home which are 4.6GB (120 minutes). Bought movies should use the double density DVDs that can store 9.2GB per disc. cheap.

Kind of reminds me of the good old days of Laserdisc. Where you have to flip it over half way through.
And I can't say I liked Gangs of NY at all.

Who cares? It was cinematic mediocrity at its best. The only redeeming quality salvaged from the 3 hours of pointless rambling that Scorsese should be ashamed of was the priceless performance by Daniel Day Louis.

Will end up making no difference to me. I have a standing rule about not giving any of my money to Leonardo DiCaprio . . . I refuse to pay to see any of his movies in any format. If I'm going to see Gangs of New York, it will be when it comes out on one of the premium channels.

Movie was great. Ending was not. Hard to make a good ending since we have seen it all, but I'd of made it more like the ending of his fight with the priest.
