i was going to do this deal until i found out that citibank charges you $7 a month if you have less than $1000 in your account...didn't seem worth it to me.

Received my Palm IIIe yesterday after waiting 2 months, just as Citi-fi promised!
Open an account for $500 for 6 months. Make a deposit every month (can be $1). They will send Palm IIIe after 2 months. Use promotion code 'cp'. I heard your balance can drop below $500 too.
I just called cs to verify promo is still going too. Citi-fi is merging with Direct Access to form Citibank Online. No more Citi-fi accounts will be opened, but Direct Access is honoring the promo still. The way to do it is to call them on the phone to verify you are getting the deal.
1-800-756-7350 Direct Access
Offer expires August 30!

I went to http://www.citifi.com and clicked the "open account" link. Very interesting, it says:
"Please be aware that if you open a Citibank account we will honor any valid Citi f/i promotion. All you need to do is place your promotion code into the free format comment field, which appears at the end of the Citibank account application in the Additional Information section."
Then it gives a link to open an account on-line. I think I might give it a try today!

Bad news - I talked to Lilly in CS and she said that while the Palm promotion goes until the 8/30, there's no way to get your account open and funded in time. She said they will be offering a "similar" promotion starting October 1.

I got 10 of the IIIe's and sold most of them all on e Bay, Yahoo and Amazon. This seems like a good deal for a VISOR.
DLJ direct will give you a new VISOR for opening a new account with $1,000! http://www.dljdirect.com/cgi/inet/promotions.trn?promotion=GEN1000AD

Just opened 10 accounts using variations of family member names - Andy, Andrew, Andrea, Peter, Pete, Pedro, Pita, etc. Tied up $5000 for 6 weeks and then closed the accounts once I got the IIIe's.

This deal is virtually dead, as they will not take new apps over the phone since the accoutn had to be funded by 8/31, your only chance would be to do the online app ASAP and note the promo code in the Free Format box as they say at citifi.com

This is for all you people with a current Citibank account. I only have a checking account with Citibank, so I signed up for a savings account. You can fund it straight from your checking account. I asked him what you had to keep in the account once it was open. Basically, you don't have to keep hardly anything in there. Also, he was very thorough with me, and yet never mentioned that it was required to make a transfer every month. I did it, without too much hassle. Only thing that sucks is they have to run a credit check, because you are doing this over the phone, but who cares, right? Hope this helps you guys. Take care!

Citi f/i is defunct, and they have not handled their decision to kill it very gracefully.
I would strongly discourage anyone from trying to do any deals regardless of any "expiration dates". I have an account with them, and have been notified that it will be closed 9/22 with an invitation to join some other Citbank program.
They have alreday reneged on one promption, wher the only requirment was that it be mailed by 7/31. I mailed it 7/29, and got it back saying they would open new accounts after 8/1. Despite the assurance cited above, they were unable to honor the promotion because I could obvously no longer mail by 7/31.
Do what you wanr at your own peril. Citi has killed this program, and it may play hell trying to get them to honor their promotional offers irrespective of what they say.
If you try it at this point and grt f+++d, please do not whine about it on this site.

Could someone post the exact offer (or make a gif of the letter) for this?
I tried a week ago, and they were about to let me have it, but they ask for the EXACT wording of the offer.
thx
