http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009QPSB/gotapex Then boost the price to over $250 with this .49cent item http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006LLHQ/gotapex This is the 60 hour version, not the 40 hour version. DON'T FORGET there is an additional subscription fee of $250 lifetime or $9.95 monthly.
Unfortunately for me, I discovered this two days after I purchased my 2nd Replay 5040.

To bad Amazon don't give you the $50 off on the RePlay instead of giving you $50 off on a FUTURE purchase. If you buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, I guess it still is a good deal. Costco has the 60 hour for $199. I'm in the market for a DVR but am leaning toward TIVO. What scares me with ReplayTV is that they have gone out of business once already and also their biggest selling feature was the commercial skip feature. Now that they can't use that feature in any future units I worry that a lot of people will lean toward the TIVO'S friendlier user interface and put them out of business again. Would hate to get stuck with a unusable activation fee.

Well,I broke down and got this one, it will be my 2nd. Their ability to network will be great. I couldn't pass it up because this model most likely will be the last with commercial skip.

Personally though, I think, the biggest selling feature is the network readiness of replaytv plus the fact that if you have multiple units, you can stream shows from other rooms' units to the unit you are currently using.

just my two cents, which is probably more than what this post is worth. :P

Price is now $179.99 after rebate, plus push the price over $250 by adding something in the electronic section for $20.01 and still get the $50 certificate. I just called Amazon since I bought it last week and they adjusted my price for $20 Amazon`s Customer Service Number: (800)201-7575.

I always wanted a tivo or replay but would never pay 250 bucks for tv schedules!!

So I got the Time warner DVR digital cable box - works with the digital cable schedule and does all that Tivo or Replay does -

What I don't get is the damn thing is sloow in changing channels, and the guide is slow to update if you try to schedule things out past a few days (like when you go on vacation).

Worked out for me - before I had it I was paying 115 a month for digital cable, cable modem and HBO, since I got the DVR I qualified for some sort of Digital package and it dropped my bill to 99 ! whoo hoo.
