Today was a great day for freebies!
First, got my E-stamp check for $175
even after the $20 buy.com coupon. I
sent the rebate in 7-18-00 (buy.com
was backordered) and received it today
8-24-00!
Second, got the magazine rack from deliverall.com. Very nice and heavy.
Lastly, got a free tape 5' tape measure.
Now only if I actually got t-shirts. Only
received one in the last 3 months.

Got my 3 free Adaptec CDRs (finally!) and a bright red Compaq T-shirt. The shirt is huge, just like the last four Cisco T-shirts, but it was free so I can't really complain...

The past 3 days have definitely seen some nice stuff showing up in the mailbox for Mike7, you betcha.
Compaq accounts for 3 of the goodies. Another t-shirt, the Dilbert book, and a stopwatch. Frankly, I'm not a big Dilbert fan, so I plan on donating it to the public library when I return some books tomorrow. And I've little need for the stopwatch, but will toss it in the "Misc. Small Stuff I'll Wind Up Wanting If I Throw Them Out" drawer. The t-shirt is welcome, as are all the other red Compaq t-shirts I receive. (Man, Compaq is second to none when it comes to free t-shirts.)
Also received this week were two items relating to test drive deals. One was a $25 gift card good at Borders, the other was a Swiss Army wristwatch. People, these auto test drive deals are the best. You stop at a dealer, come right out and explain to the first salesperson you see that, "I'm not really in the market for a car right now, but I recently obtained this certificate..." and in about 2 minutes, you're done. No muss, no fuss. The beauty of it is that the test drive premiums tend to be very good, indeed. Actual, real world values of $25-100. I know that the Swiss Army watch isn't worth as much as a Rolex, but it's a pretty nice sportwatch, and would probably sell for $50 or so retail. And I can always find $25 worth of stuff to buy at Borders -- got a couple of Borders in the area, with great selections of books and CDs. So these two items were very welcome.
Arriving in today's mail was a Cisco t-shirt. (Again, free t-shirts are always welcome.) And a $20 rebate check on a $19.95 computer item I bought about 6 weeks ago.
Frankly, it's pleasant, when coming home at the end of the day, to check my mailbox and find some free stuff. Sure, a $50, or $100 gift certificate is more welcome than yet another inexpensive t-shirt, but even if it's just a shirt or a coupon good for $5 worth of fast food at Wendy's, it's still nice to find a halfway decent freebie waiting for me.
