Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/reader/promotions/free_shop.asp) has free e-books for download. Titles will change every week till November. You'll need to install MS Reader first. Must be a common problem, since they cover it in their help page. :) Funny, their instructions appear to be Windows 98 based. You would think that would give instructions for XP... anyway, here is the link, if anyone else is having problems.

I've received a number of PMs about this as well. These files use some sort of digital rights management to register themselves to your reader (which must be "activated"). I have tried transferring them... it apparently does not work.
If someone knows a way around that, we could "discuss" the above option further. Otherwise, your best bet is to watch this thread carefully!

Another problem I had is that the recent upgrade of M$ Reader for Pocket PC that is required before you download the most recent ebooks has apparently improved my Pocket PC to the point where it will no longer open ANY of the M$ free titles I downloaded during the summer (including the most recent ones).
Tried re-installing and re-activating Reader, and removing / reinstalling /activating Reader with no success.
Thus Freecell trimuphs over literacy.
