i'm surprised no one has started a thread about this movie yet. i went to see it last night.

good movie, imo. i'm not going to release any spoilers here, but there were some funny jokes and hot babes  will smith and martin lawrence played off each other well. just good clean fun (ok, not really clean. but you know what i mean).

the downsides:
- the length is something of a problem. it's not that it exactly gets boring, it's just that you start getting the feeling that the movie should be wrapping up, and then yet another major plot development blows up and we're looking at another 30 minutes or so.

2 hours would have been a good length. 2:30 is stretching it. bay (the director) needs to learn that longer isn't always better.

- the action/chase scenes are too hard to follow and too overwrought.

too hard to follow: because of the camera angles/shooting techniques/editing, you often have no idea wtf is going on. once again, a poor technique by bay, where he somehow thinks that by jerking the camera around he's going to disguise other problems.

too excessive: there comes a point where the chase has gone on so long, so many near-death experiences have been avoided, so many clips have been emptied, and so many things have exploded that you just get bored of it and wonder when it will be over so that you can go on with the movie. the action sequences could have been cut down by about 25% and it actually would have strengthened the movie.

but like i said, it's definitely worth watching. i just like to bitch about fairly minor problems :D

I took my little cousin to see it at the 11:30pm show last night. This summer has been the summer of brainless testosterone driven movies...and Bad Boys II has again proven this truth.

As Whitak has already commented, Smith and Lawrence played off each other very well, though it felt like they kept repeating some of the same jokes and that was noticeable.

Similarly to Whitak, i too had a problem with the 2.5 hour length of the film. There were some "development" and "comical" scenes that could have been edited or even taken out of the movie so that it wasn't as long.

the action sequences were entertaining, but were a bit convoluted because of camera angles and strange perceptions. the action sequences are similar to those in Matrix Reloaded...way too overdone and way too Hollywood. shoot the scene and be done with it. Don't extend it with ridiculous stunts and more explosions..sometimes that is overwhelming for the viewer.

overall it's definitely worth seeing on the big screen. i have been waiting for 8 freaking years for this movie and have been talking about it ever since i saw the first one (slaus can back that statement up. LOL).

The downsides: Bruckheimer and Bey. If I hear those two names, I do not see the movie. Those two do not deserve my $7.50.

Bruckheimer produced "Pirates" as well, which I still think is a great movie!

Notice I said, "and Bey." Those two together are the worst combination in Hollywood, besides Soderburgh and Julia Roberts.

I possess the opposite view. I will watch anything these two do. ...Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor, and The Rock;great movies. I very much enjoyed Bad Boys II. Certain scenes could have employed brevity, but the movie was a lot of fun. I LOVED THE END, but I can't say whyspolier

Better than T3, but not by much. I had to pee so bad around the 2 hour mark, and I kept trying to hold it cus I thought it would be over soon. When it was finally over, all I could think was "damn, that was a long action movie!". I'd recommend it still.

I watched it last night with my fiancee and I think it worths the ticket. Will and Martin are a good combo.

There is one scene, which is similar to the one in Jackie Chan's Police Story 1 but I won't say which one though.

Had EXACTLY the same thought. Bit straight from it.

Honestly, it just felt weird seeing Will Smith say "bad words". but nonetheless... it was very entertaining. :D

you know, thats exactly what went through my mind. He raps about being clean and not using bad words but he threw them out left and right in the movie.
