Remember the $99 TiVo from August 11? (search the archives if not)

Well, I took advantage of the deal, and am patiently waiting for my rebates to show up, but I found something this weekend that you all might want to use.

Currently, Sears is getting rid of all of the HDR112 TiVo units for $199. And if you remember, Circuit City has a 110% price matching guarantee. So, this weekend, I went to the Circuit City that I bought my TiVo from, receipt in hand, and pointed out that the Sears at the other end of the mall had the same model for $100 less. The clerk called Sears to confirm, and then refunded $118 (the $8 in tax) to my credit card!

Let's do the math together:

$300
-$100 (CC rebate)
-$100 (TiVo rebate)
-$110 (CC price match guarantee)
------
-$10

All I paid is sales tax!

It worked for me! If you have a Sears in your area with TiVo units in stock, then give this a try.

Good luck!

Damn, Indy, you're a lucky one. All the sears in the Southland are cleaned out of these particular ones. Count your blessings. Anyway, I think I'm looking for a Replay TV. Am I crazy, or are Replay TV's without the subscription fee? Any insights? Nice[wo]Mann, I know you have one...

Yes, the ReplayTV is the one without the subscription, but why get that when you get all the rebates on TiVo? TiVo is actually a lot cooler than ReplayTv, believe me, I have tried them both. Go out and get a TiVo, you will be VERY GLAD you did http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Would you happen to have the SKU # for the product @ sears so I can call before I make an ass out of myself :-)

Circuit City will do anything NOT to allow you to pricematch these. I went to 3 different Circuit Citys and I got "We have $100 rebate of our own that makes it $199", to "those are closeouts. We can't match those" They are closeouts, so this excuse has some foundation. The other does not. $299 - $100 rebate is not the same as $199 without.

Ok, can we have a consensus here. I'm in the NY area, and would love to pick up a Tivo. What's the difference between the old and the new(er?) models? Anything significant? Also, agreed, we need to know the SKU # for the model, so I don't buy the wrong one, like a bubblehead. Any other related info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure of the SKU for Sears, but when I called, (and the clerk at the Circuit City store called) I asked for Phillis HDR112.

I can check to see if the CC SKU is on the receipt when I get home if that will help.

Only thing is that Circut City puts up such a fight when you present them with competitive prices. But I do have to say that this is worth a try!

Tried it here in Buffalo NY. Only one sears has that model, and it's $499.99. The others had a lower model, or none at all.

At least I picked up my cue cat at radio shack while at the mall.

Damn, doesn't sound like this is possible to get. Does anyone have any more info about this, or similar way to get a cheap TIVO? Thanks so much! http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
