We have two standard poodles, who to be quite frank, are noisy as hell. They are very protective of the house and as such go nuts whenever there is a perceived transgression onto our property. This means that when UPS, Fed-Ex, Airborne Expree, or USPS (etc) come to the door they go crazy with barking and wont shut up. Thus, whenever I hear them barking like that I assume someone is coming to our door or within sight of the dogs.
I was just sitting here when they started going crazy. I originally assumed that it was due to someone running by the house, but then I saw the UPS truck turning around in front of our house, so I thought that a package had been delivered. I go downstairs, telling my dogs to shut up the entire time, and open the door. Nothing there...ok. My dogs were still barkng so I walk in and the male is standing at the window barking his head off. I walk up and touch his tail like I always do.
He jumped 4" into the air as I apparently had scared the crap out of him. I think its hilarious. When he realized it was me, he starts wagging his tail jumping up and basically just asking to be comforted. Poor puppy. (Although he isnt a puppy anymore)
