Bars sue underage drinkers

if, as the article says, the underaged drinkers used IDs that were indistinguishable from real ones, then wtf? the cops prolly had to call in each ID to see if it was real in order to bust them...which would mean that the level of security at the bar would have to be similar in order to just admit people. i'm not sure what the law expects to accomplish with this.

now if the bars are just looking at IDs and making obvious mistakes or being careless, then that's different.

Just because THEY were negligent. uh, WTF!!! Kate knows that buying alcohol while she is still underage is illegal. I am happy the bar went after the underage people, they were in the wrong. There are always ways to get past any measure the bar has to prevent sales to underage. The bar cannot prevent of age people giving beer to their underage friends. I do agree that some bars sell to underage to make extra money, but a lot of clubs and bars are actually legit. Why should the bars not go after the underage drinkers, the cops go after the underage drinkers because they are in the wrong, so the bars should be able to too. It is not like she didn’t know she was doing something illegal, it is not like “oops I just accidentally drank 5 beers and I am still underage.”
