I am thinking of moving back out to North Carolina from California. The problem is that U-Haul wants $3800 for a 14ft truck and that is steep for me since I am just a student. Here's a list of my posessions...
Motorcycle
Dresser
Clothes
Queen size mattress with box spring
Computer
CD's and small electronic devices
That's it. So you see I don't need a whole lot to work with. I tried Rider and they are expensive too... Any ideas on how to move out there the cheapest way?
I have even thought of sending most of my stuff through UPS but that is pretty expensive and I still would not get all of my things out here...

To Laurinburg, NC 28352
Thanks guys

Sell stuff and rent a truck for the bike and clothes, etc.

do you have a trailer hitch on your car? cuz i think the uhaul trailers are a lot cheaper for long distances. my advice though... sell everything but the motorcycle, computer, and whatever fits in your car (or suitcases if you're flying). is your bed and dresser really worth 4k? and remember any truck/car you rent, you need to pay gas for too.

maybe you can ship some items, like your clothes?

Yeah I was thinking I'd just leave the bed and dresser. My friend has a Honda that he doesn't know what to do with so maybe I could sell my car, my bike, and get the honda and just take my clothes and my computer...

I think the hitch is the best idea..
you might even be able to rent a truck/van/car from budget or other rent-a-car places that has a hitch. those are usually unlimited miles, and anywhere from 20-80 bucks a day.

if that's all you have, i'd sell it all except your clothes. then, buy it all again.
think about it..if you sell your bike right, you can buy another for about the same price. there's always deals on computers to be had. the classifieds always have good deals on furniture. ship your clothes, cd's, and small electrics via ups or whatever. then get on a plane and be done with it.
