I'm facinated by maps and aerial photos. I don't know why. So I was pretty happy when my friend took my two oldest sons up in his airplane to get some shots of our farm. They turned out pretty good:

What are you growing? Also, what's that circular bare patch in the upper middle?

how do you even get any internet access, or phone or power?! I don't see any powerlines, etc.

That oblong spot toward the top used to be a small lake, but was drained many years ago. Now it just gets flooded so often that nothing much grows in it.

It's only a single pair running to our farm, so they don't show up much. The phone lines are all underground here.

Actually, that photo is not representative of the area I live (western Minnesota, about 100 miles west of Minneapolis) there are a lot of lakes, just not within a mile or so of our house. Here's a photo taken about a mile south:

was that at top of the hancock building where they serve brunch and stuff? i was disappointed in their food. but the view was great. :)

i didn't take the picture, but yea, i think it is from that restaurant. my sister was there, she said the food was ok. maybe it was just the day you were there...or maybe it's just not worth the price tag.
